The NAD T 777 V3 can support additional zones. Looks like you can group Front High output into Zone 2, and B outputs into Zone 3.
Does anyone know if each of these can be seen as a separate Roon end-point? Or if BluOS sees these as separate groups. I read the manual but couldn’t figure it out.
For Roon to see the zones they need to be presented as discrete zones. If NaD is using some internal mechanism to create zones then it is unlikely Roon will see them. As always try it and see. Also, giv3 a shout out to NAD support. They should be able to give you the answer.
I read on this forum that when the NAD CI-580 (4 zone) came out, Roon only recognized 1 zone. After some back and forth between NAD and Roon, my understanding is Roon made an update and now recognizes and controls all 4 zones. I suspect the same process might be needed for the T 777, unless it has already been done. Maybe hit the NAD forums to see if you can find an existing owner who uses the 777 with Roon?
We have never made an update in order to get this working. Any changes that happened were on the NAD side. Roon/RAAT have no problem supporting this–there are several other RR devices that expose more than one endpoint at a time.
Brian, I understand if NDAs prevent you from naming names, but can you give some idea of timing? I’ve already ordered a NAD CI-580 to provide 4 Roon controlled zones and I think I can get away with my current AudioControl 6 zone amp for the time being. However, I was considering replacing the AudioControl with Sonance 4 zone amp due to its class D higher power, smaller footprint, and ability to be controlled by my Harmony Hub. If something better is coming within the next 6 months, I’ll wait. If they are targeting announcing at CES in 2019 and shipping later that year, I’ll pull the trigger on the Sonance.
