Naim Unitiqute on network (UPNP)

**Description Of Issue

Hello, I just installed roon and it’s a wonderful software. However, it’s not recognising my Naim Unitiqute over my domestic network (UPNP/DLNA) as I am using it as a player connected to my DAC.

Bubble UPNP and Audirvana does recognise it as network device.

Any known issues with this V1 Unitiqute device ?

Thanks.

The version 1 dates back to 2010 and the original only had 96k support. This is probably too old to support services like Roon. To use it with Roon you would need to use a device that bridges UPnP and RAAT. The other option is that you might normally expect the machine to show up as an AirPlay device but that required additional software from Naim. If that has never been loaded it won’t appear in Roon.

As Henry says the older Naim streamers do not directly support Roon. They are UPNP and internet radio only.

Naim enhanced these with a 24/192 board that added capability to the streamers allowing Spotify and Tidal to be added. However they still only support UPNP and not Roon. Roon is only supported in the next generation of streamers, Atom, NDX2, ND555 etc,

The only devices that support Airplay are the Muso’s and 2nd generation streamers. Airplay was never added to the 1st generation (Qute, NDX, NDS, 272 etc)

You can work around this by using a Sonore UPNP Bridge which will bridge between Roon and the Naim device. Roon effectively ‘plays’ to the bridge and the bridge passes the stream on to the Naim device. Alternatively you can use a software solution called lms-to-upnp which does pretty much the same thing.

I use lms-to-upnp to stream to my Naim NDS. It works really well and is completely reliable.

If you want to use Roon it’s well worth investigating these solutions, the older series are stil excellent and Roon makes the whole experience so much better.

Hi @Carlos_Soria,

As mentioned above, this device does not have direct Roon support. For more information about what devices can be used with Roon, please see our Knowledge Base.
