Need advice please with HEGEL

Spot on! :+1:t2:

I agree - I think it’s time for some honesty here. I’m sick and tired of being patronised by a certain gentleman at Hegel. (H390 owner).

103 weeks ago, I received my Hegel H390. When I ordered it, I was confident it would be Roon Ready before arrival. Why? Because it was promised by Hegel in May 2019. After arrival, I was confident it would be Roon Ready within a few weeks.
Weeks have passed since. Many weeks. 103 weeks for me.
Isn’t it time to think about some compensation? I have been very, very, very patient. But I have reached the end.
Hegel staff, communicate! Tell us where it’s going. Will I have to wait another 103 weeks? No more regrets please.

A lot of times, if you have to keep asking you probably already know the answer.

Like @Rockhound, I paired the H390 with the Lumin T2. No comparison. The T2 gives more depth, range and pure emotion.

In the unlikely event that Roon Readiness ever eventuates, surely Hegel needs to be providing something like a free 1 year Roon subscription to the customers who purchased an amp on the basis that it would support Roon…

Anyway… I now have a streamer and DAC because of this - so can jump any which way…but big sigh…

I was thinking in the direction of an UltraRendu…

I’ll settle for an opticalRendu Mode #5

Because i use Roon, i do not need anything other than Roon Ready from Hegel, and that as soon as possible.
If the horizon for realease is stil far away, give a very good explanation why 99,99% ready a month ago is not yet 100% with happy Roon Ready Hegel owners now.
Compensating by giving us a free subscription to Roon is, well, not appropriate given the status of RR on Hegel products.

Well Hegel @Anders_Ertzeid , can’t you come aboard and give us some insights on the problems you face to fix the last 0,01%?
By now, you have very ā€œunhappyā€ Hegel amplifier owners that use Roon and are desperate to have Roon Ready status.

I had a reply from Hegel this week sayijng:

ā€œā€¦ Roon development and Beta testing for H390 have been concluded successfully a while ago. We are now waiting for the final Roon approval and certification before release. This process appears to be more elaborate than we first anticipated with aspects outside our control. We then unfortunately don’t have a release date that we can promise for certain, but I can assure you that we are ready to release as soon as we have the certification ready.ā€

I too am waiting on Roon Ready. I want to buy an H390, but want RR status.

It is very poor PR that Hegel have been in this near state of completion on RR for 2 years, when other manufacturers have managed it !

Hegel have been parroting this same update for months now, which is why there is clearly some fundamental issue with Hegel’s implementation of Roon Ready.

Hegel’s response above makes it absolutely clear that in their eyes they have done what they need to, but in Roon’s eyes what they have produced is not good enough to earn certification.

Roon are constantly advising of companies/products that they have awarded certification to, including companies that are much much smaller than Hegel.

I think we need to hear from Hegel as to what they propose to do about this, it is not good enough to keep telling everyone that they are 99.9% of the way there after over 18 months.

I agree, good points, well made, I recommend this to the house!

Based on what Anders posted yesterday:

I have no confidence at all that Roon Ready will arrive soon.

It looks like the goal of a true one-box, semi-affordable amp/DAC/ streamer was just a dream.

Killer Amp = :white_check_mark:

Quality DAC = :white_check_mark:

RR Streamer =

Jupp, that dream is becoming a nightmare :japanese_ogre:

they don’t owe us anything, except clear honest statements…If you want free ā€œRoonā€ go for Volumio or so
its ridiculous to ask for it, especially if you do not understand that they need to build this from scratch as Hegel does not use the 08/15 usual operating systems. I fully understand them. Go buy a RasPi get Volumio + RBridge and enjoy music…MUSIC…lalala… nice friendly MUSIC… and chill
You are given what you deserve …Hahhahahahah

They owe us Roon Ready - as it was always promoted as being a feature very soon.

It’s the same as if they said volume control coming soon but after two years no one could alter the volume as the feature was still to be implemented…

First and foremost, Hegel owes us the product that was actively marketed and sold to us. That is, an amp that is Roon Ready.

Not sure this statement is being uttered with full knowledge of the situation. Even Hegel acknowledge that they owe us, after all they sold these amps to us with the promise that we were getting Roon Ready soon. Soon was 2 years ago.
