Description Of Issue
Roon let me know that my 500GB backup drive was full a few days ago. I unplugged it form my Nucleus and plugged it into my laptop and hit Erase. I then reconnected to my Nucleus but it’s not backing up my files and I don’t know why.

These are the messages I’m seeing:

Did you rename the T5 to another names, such as Roon Backup Drive II? Also, what format is the backup drive, ExFAT, NTFS, something else? Also, are you aware that you can delete Roon database backups directly from within Roon, so you may not need to erase the drive on another computer if you start to run out of disk space.

Wow, such insightful questions.

Yes, I did rename the drive and I’m not sure what the former name was so I would have a difficult time changing it back to what it was.

I don’t know what the format was or is.

No, I didn’t know that I could erase my backup drive from within Roon. I certainly will do that it the future.

In case it’s not evident yet, I’m not a very good with computers.

If you plug your external drive into your Nucleus, and then go to Settings->Backups->Backup now and “Backup”, can you see your drive and select that for your backup locations? You may need to create a directory or folder named RoonBackups to start the process.

Have you looked at these help links from Roon?:

Just one more thing…

How is this done?

Sure. Go to Settings->Backups and select “Find backups”:

Navigate to your RoonBackups directory and select “Select this folder”:

You should be presented with a list of all of your backups, and you can selectively choose Restore or Delete for each backup shown:
