· Installed Tailscale and both my iPhone and NucleusOne appear with green dot. But when visiting Roon ARC settings on NucleusOne testing continues to fail with NetworkError code 504.

This diagnostics page is meant for ARC using port forwarding. As you use VPN instead, please ignore that page. Does ARC work for you using the VPN (Tailscale)?

That is to be expected.
As brother @BlackJack states…
Does it actually work or not?
The ARC diagnostics page only tests direct inbound access via port forwarding (WAN → router → Nucleus).
When Tailscale is enabled, ARC uses a VPN tunnel instead:
Phone → Tailscale → Nucleus
There is no open inbound port for ARC to probe, so the test fails with NetworkError 504 even though ARC works correctly.
Black Jack was absolutely right. Took ARC out for a spin with TailScale and works like a charm. Now discovering what TailScale can do within my home environment. It is very helpful that TailScale comes pre-installed on the Nucleus One. As noted, the diagnostics page ignoring TailScale was a stumbling block for this newbie. But no big deal once understood. I appreciate all the feedback.
Thanks for circling back to let us know, @Roth_Hensley, and we’re glad to hear you’re off and running.
The team is overhauling the Roon Settings → ARC page to not display erroneous diagnostics. You should see this reflected in one of the upcoming Roon builds.
