I’m intrigued by this for use with my desktop system, which would include a Topping D50s DAC and Q audio 3020i 88 db sensitivity speakers. Thoughts?
Depends what volume / control you want in nearfield.
9W power for 88db speaker is hardly a match made in heaven.
I don’t crank it by any means. It’s for use at my desk. Looking for a nice sound first and foremost.
I have a desktop system with 93db speakers powered by a big ol 1 watt amp.
It can approach pain threshold volume.
And it’s not tube.
EL84s are pretty robust. I think you’ll be fine.
And thanks for posting.
I’m likely ordering one
Also considering this from Monoprice:
Personally, I like the Topping PA5 for near field listening. Transparent. Plenty of power. But I get it that you want that tube sound.
Yah, looking to see what the fuss is about!
Well, the Cayin amp arrived, and WOW! First, it’s gorgeous and built like a tank; very high quality finish. Setup was a breeze. It’s being driven via RCA from my Schiit Lokius.
This thing is PLENTY loud for a desktop, with Q 3020i speakers. The soundstage is amazing, as are is the bass. A lovely smooth sound but highs are clear and liquid. This is highly recommended!!!
