Description Of Issue
Just installed this fresh copy or Roon on my iMac and am enjoying it from my local library and Qobuz account, which is working perfectly.
However when I try to connect to my Roon Core from my iPad (iPadOS 14.0.1) it can not find the Roon core.
On your iPhone or iPad, try Settings > Privacy > Local Network and make sure Roon is selected.
This is new for iOS and iPadOS 14.0. When running Roon on the device for the first time, it should have asked to allow Roon to connect to your local network.
I reinstalled roonserver and then also on Ipad I try to find the core. after a minute it very briefly displays the core name and the OS version and ip address of the core on MacOs, but then it disappaeras and Roon starts searching agani for the core and never finds it.
On my Imac itself I can connect to the core and it works fine
Hi, no problem. As stated mac on wired network, netgear Switch (dumb) 1 Gb, also connected to this switch Netgear Orbi RB50 wifi access point where Ipad is connected to. DHCP serves the subnet 192.168.0.0/24. Both machines reachable via ping from a thrid machine on the network. No firewalls enabled, Netgear Orbi configrued as accesspoint so no routing/forwarding/firewalling applicable.
Niall, Thanks for your help. The issue is solved. I’ve finally reached out to apple support, but also they could not find the issue on my Mac. Finally decided to reinstall MacOS X completely and now the issue is gone. Must have been some unidentified networking/firewall issue in Mac OSX.
