Thank you @jamie for the considerate reply. I’m very excited to receive my Titan! ![]()
I’m hoping there is a RPi5 inside ![]()
Why can’t you just pretend you bought a Hi Fi component box , specified for a particular job. Would you even think about stripping a Cambridge Audio deice so as to see the processor
The times are a changin’
Because it’s not. There’s no hi-fi in a computer.
To be fair, if your first thought after getting a Nucleus is to open it up and upgrade it, you’d be much better served getting a NUC and configure it anyway you like it. You’d be saving quite a bit of money too.
Sorry bad choice of phrase ,but the principal is the same “if you bought a proprietary server for your hi fi system” may have been better. I appreciate the Nucleus is just a dolled up computer but seeing as Roon is entering a new phase of "pre-made’ servers is it not time for people who buy those boxes to move away from the DIY mindset to a Plug’n’Play one.
Couldn’t have put it better.
Im not a Titan customer and never will be. I work in IT and simply want to know, nothing more or less.
It will be stripped one day and I will find out.
I keep seeing this stated in the Roon forum.
In other audio forums, it’s not unusual at all for enthusiasts to open up their new audio gear to see what chips/DACs are being used, or at least asking what chips/DACs are being used before making a purchase decision. ![]()
That’s a valid question for DAC chips, IMO, but for a CPU or motherboard, I couldn’t be bothered; I would treat the Titan or Nucleus One as an appliance and go by its published specs.
I understand where you are coming from but, many of us work in IT and have set opinions of what we would want for hardware inside this appliance. I am not sure why it is such and issue to post the actual specs and what exact cpu etc. is being used in these boxes. It really feels like there is something to hide at this point.
I also worked in IT for the majority of my working life. Perhaps that’s why I can’t be bothered any more.
I really don’t think there’s anything to hide. It’s just a mindset.
I agree, and I’m also all for transparency, but again, I don’t really understand why IT people who are interested in these details don’t just build their own NUC as they see fit. I get the aesthetics part, but I would also think that for IT people, what’s inside is what really matters.
By marketing an appliance, Roon and/or its contracted manufacturer(s) probably do not want to be in the business of guaranteeing any specific motherboards or processors. That could vary over time. The only meaningful metric is meeting the published performance specs, not supplying certain part numbers.

Oh, I would never buy a Titan. The One is interesting at is price point. I own a NUC that has been great for several years. I will need to move on something later this year as my library and number of endpoints keeps growing.
Most people are likely not interested in specs. They just want a great looking and working device. Those are what the Nucleus, in my opinion, is designed for.
The wizz kids will most likely build their own system.
Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see the Titan on the Roon store, only the One is there for pre-order. Is the Titan on backorder oir did they stop selling it?
This is all I see in the Roon store:
Also, (if it’s still for sale) an acquaintance of mine asked when the titan would be available in Europe, Does anyone know?
Edit: The only way I can find the Titan in the Roon store is to do a Google search for “Roon Titan Dealers” and then pick one of the links that says it is the Roon store.
I’m thinking there is something amiss with the Roon store? Or is it just me?
No offence but is the Titan aimed at you ? I too am ex IT (developer) and the thought of putting together a NUC doesn’t phase me other than my failing dexterity (neck problems due to too much screen time
), equally in my case I found a retailer who sourced , put together and tested my new NUC I just installed ROCK. Me/you know what we want and can spec it , others are less technically inclined and would prefer someone else do the technical thing for them. I wouldn’t spec and make a DIY fridge for example I would just buy one. What’s the difference?
To me the target market is someone who can’t / doesn’t want to do this and appreciates the cosmetics that a “posh box” can bring and wants a appliance that just sits there like a box and looks after itself.
Just a thought
It’s not just you - I’ve only been able to see the page for the Nucleus One for months now. I had assumed that it was because the Roon Store is for US customers only, and since I am in Europe, the Store pages don’t show. However, you are in the US, so I would have thought that you would see all the Store pages…
I asked a contact in Roon Labs about this at the time, but never heard anything back…
A thought that I agree with, I know the market this product is meant to serve. I always have.
Doesn’t stop me beig curious about the internals.
I’m curious how you located that page. Going to Roon’s website, that page is nowhere to be found (at least I can’t find it).
