Just noticed that SABRE has introduced new high-end DACs. I imagine the next iteration of the X1 might have the ES9039MPRO vs the current ES9038PRO. Just guessing…

So what is new with this?
I started this thread because I wondered aloud whether the new Sabre DAC might be in the next iteration of the fabulous X1. I should point out that implementation of a given DAC — filtering, power supply, analog output stage, etc. — is probably as important as the DAC itself. The chip is only one factor of many in the final sound of the DAC. And Lumin have proven to be superb at implementation.

Yes, poor implementation of previous generation 9038 DACs is quite possible. The good news is you can charge over $3200 for the privilege:
