I suspect you will be told when you’re told . Roon have always, rightly, been cagey on release details of new features.
They are on for a “hammering” which ever way they go. Silence seems the best bet

I think Roon should work out a deal with the Internet Archive to stream their stuff. Lots of metadata available, and scans of rare 45’s, 78’s, and LPs.
Edit: extensive API is also available: Tools and APIs — Internet Archive Developer Portal
What is that?
I recently went to a thrift store and saw at least fifty 78s and all records (LPs, 45s and 78s) are $1.25, there are deals to be had.
They started with archiving the internet to preserve websites and such, and then added more general digital archiving
I can’t find the post now but in another thread roon gave more info about Apple Music. Basically saying they are willing to give them the full data dump they need. They said the issue is they will only allow streaming on iOS or MacOS platforms. So that’s a pretty big roadblock. Can’t see them only offering Apple Music for iPhone and Mac but not being able to stream it to other devices. I was kind of hoping the technical problem wasn’t actually a restriction made by Apple but something that could be overcome.
I’m still hopeful Apple Music will introduce some kind of handoff feature in iOS 17 for other devices than the HomePod. I have a sub for the family and like the iPhone interface. Having used it enough to really see how it compares to roon. But for now I stick with Qobuz and roon.
Meaning your core has to be a Mac and your remote is iOS?
Found the original post in Deezer thread. I wasn’t too clear on what he meant.
That’s rather strange. I feel like apple needs to be more forgiving on this.
Especially as they offer Apple Music playback on Windows and Android as well through their own apps.
That’s what I’m wandering. It’s not like Roon is doing anything to the data.
That is their business model
@Bill_Janssen a super idea!!
It looks to me that the material is crowd sourced and the metadata is inconsistent and haphazard. It may take a lot of manual effort (album by album) to ingest the data into the Roon database.
A bigger issue might be that I don’t think it is just a matter of striking a deal with Internet Archive, because they don’t actually own the rights to the data. Roon may need to go back to the original contributors and ask for permission to use their material.
Generally, the Internet Archive requires that uploads are under a free-to-distribute license or in the public domain (e.g., because copyrights expired). If someone makes a copyright complaint, they take it down.
However, much of the content is under a “no commercial gain” license and it’s not clear to me if Roon would be considered violating this, as a commercial entity. Would have to be discussed with the archive.org guys.
It would be nice if Roon at least pulled in the data from Internet Archive for album identification.
No, copyright law in the US specifically excludes data like this: Feist Publications, Inc., v. Rural Telephone Service Co. - Wikipedia.
(In reference to the metadata, not the music data files.)
Hmm, good point. I suppose it could be argued that it’s not Roon using the content, but rather the user. After all, the user is the one paying fees to Tidal and Qobuz, and selecting what to stream from those services, not Roon. Just as when I stream from Archive.org, it’s not my ISP or my computer vendor that’s involved, it’s me.
May well be, but on the other hand Roon as a commercial entity has some “gain” by offering it. I don’t know, it’s one for the lawyers.
To discover new music I often use Soundcloud. That would be a very nice additional service to integrate in Roon.
