New User, 5 crashes since yesterday

Using Roon on my windows 11 pc with Qobuz integration. I’ve had 5 crashes since yesterday with no error code, and I’m also not seeing the crash in event viewer.

The crashes seem to only occur in exclusive mode, when the app is taking control over my DAC’s sample rate, and music will still somehow be playing after the app/interface crashes. Can someone please help me?

as you are a new user is your library still analysing , that will constrain your server processor until its finished

Goto the settings cog
Select Library
Check Background audio analysis

this is mine

do you see “x of Y” counting there , a library may take days to analyse depending the track count

which app is crashing the windows one or a control device one

I appreciate the response Mike, I only had a few thousand songs throughout my Qobuz playlists, my “Background audio analysis speed” now says throttled though. I haven’t crashed in a few hours though, so maybe it just recently finished! Fingers crossed.

But yeah, I have my current PC set as the Roon server, I’m also just using the Roon app on the same PC. Probably not ideal, but I’m still learning my ways around things

Hi @Bryan_Yamout,

Thanks for the update — that’s helpful.

If the crashes return, could you please export and share the relevant logs from Windows Event Viewer, even if no obvious error is shown in the UI? Sometimes the underlying fault is still recorded there.

Please check:

  • Event Viewer → Windows Logs → Application
  • Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System

Look for entries around the exact time of the crash and export them (EVTX format is fine).

Once we have those logs, we can take a closer look at what’s happening under the hood.

Hi @Bryan_Yamout,

We’re eager to investigate these crashes. If you’ve experiencing any performance issues or crashing since your last post, please share the approximate date/time here (or the name of the track that was playing in Roon, if you were listening to music).

We’ll use this information to pinpoint the event in diagnostic logs.

Thank you!

Hi @Bryan_Yamout,

This thread will shortly auto-close without any new responses from the OP. Are you still experiencing any crashing?

Hi Connor, Yes still experiencing frequent crashes. The music is still playing after the crash, so I assume the Roon app itself is crashing but the Roon server is still feeding my system music? When I reopen Roon, it has to do the initial loading/start up implying that it crashed, but I’m for some reason unable to find any related events in event viewer detailing a crash, or anything else around that time frame. It crashed just now around 12:14 PM central time, and crashed last night around 2:20 AM.

Hey @Bryan_Yamout,

Let’s see if refreshing your Roon app database (not Roon Server) may help.

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database

Thank you!
