New (was back in 2021) iFi Zen Stream device

Hi @adornoWest in Roon Only mode, the default for the Stream is coaxial, which is why I asked the question.

If you click on the link below it will take you to a post where I have shown other users how to change the settings as they are hidden (or at least non obvious). Though some versions of firmware are broken and Roon Only mode doesn’t work on USB.

Try this first and if it doesn’t work then switch to all in one mode and update the firmware from http://ifi.local

Thanks, @Michael_Harris. I don’t understand. Yesterday, when I did the same thing, I could not select the Mojo (despite it being on, connected). Today it was there.

Problem solved, hopefully permanently.

Let’s hope so, sounds like you might have already enabled USB mode at some point.

Good luck with it going forward

Ok, so not just me? Roon exclusive mode with a usb output is busted in the latest firmware? I have to unplug and replug the usb cable to my Devialet to get a connection and hear anything.

I wrote ifi over the weekend and no response.

Thanks

Hey Israel go back up a number of posts and I posted a way how to change the default for Roon only mode to USB from the default for the last 18 months or so, which was Coaxial (don’t ask me why)

Thanks as always for your quick help, Michael. I’ve done that several times, and it just doesn’t stick or my USB device doesn’t even show up. For now, I’m using it in universal mode with all services except Roon turned off. But I’d like to be able to go back to using exclusive.

All ideas are welcome. Thanks again and have a good holiday.

Hey Israel I am heading out to a concert now, but can you show me a screenshot of what you see in Roon Exclusive mode when you click on info.
I am currently on I think the August firmware but the last one I tried was good.
I also posted an article with links on how to restore to an older release which has helped a couple of others as well that were having issues

Yes, the USB output doesn’t work in Roon Mode after the latest firmware update. Actually, they claim it was working but something went wrong after some Roon update. Whatever the reason, you have to use AIO mode for the time being (that’s what I’m doing and can’t hear a difference compared to Roon Mode)

Thank you Vitor
I have sworn off iFi updates at the moment

Sure. But the fact is that it was working until it didn’t . Anyway, the AIO mode seems to be bullet (i.e. firmware update) proof. So, I’m still a die-hard Zen Stream happy user

Thanks gents. The rule for the Zen, if it’s working, don’t touch it!

Zen streams just work for me. I have three of them. No pops, clicks or dropouts. I’m sold.

Hello I got a Zen Stream recently and I updated it to the last firmware, I’m trying to use it in Roon mode only but it is set on SPDID output, well I’ve been trying to get access to Roon settings on it without success so I can change it to USB output but no success. Can someone please guide me here?

Hi Melvi, a l long way up I added a post on how to do it that involve clicking on a non obvious label in Audio Settings. Let me see if I can find that post or the screen shots

OK I just found it

Thanks, I will give it try soon!

I still have it in the study powered off and plugged into the original Zen DAC. It hasn’t even been turned on in the last several months as I have a nice speaker setup in that room as well.
