Description of Issue
Unfortunately my old Roon Server died (core i7 2600k and windows 10) so I built a new One. I installed the same early access version of the old server and set every drive with the same unit letter. When I tried to restore the backup it stopped immediately saying “backup failed”. I tried to access to Roon, logged out and tried again with no success.
I’d try the lastest EA version. It should be able to restore a backup from earlier versions. (Just the other way around doesn’t work if a database update happened in between). It may or may not work, but then you’ll know at least
Ben with the support team here, thanks for taking the time to write in! Sorry to hear you’re having issues with restoring a backup. I was able to pull up your account and see that your core has been online recently, are you still running into issues?
Hi Ben,
I wasn’t able to restore my backup and given the fact that I didn’t see any reply from support, I did my own thing. I had access to prevous system disk so i copied old Roon server and Roon app data folders to the new ones and overwrote them. In this way I was able to restore my old data. Still I don’t know why my backup doesn’t work. It would be useful to know why for any future incident
Thanks for the update! If you still have access to your older, troublesome backup, we’d be happy to take a closer look for you if you’d like.
Feel free to upload it here. Outside of this, we would need you to reproduce the issue in order for us to review your core diagnostics. It doesn’t sound like this is an option with your current setup? None the less, I’m happy to hear you’re able to get back to your music!
Hi Benjamin,
it’s not possible to reproduce the issue with the old core because the mainboard died.
About the old backup upload I can do it. I just like to know ho I can upload only one of 10 previous backups that I keep.
No need to select just one - if you zip up your RoonBackups folder (right-click it and select “Compress…”): and upload that compressed file to the link above, you should be good to go!
