Newbie to ROCK and loving it but with questions

Hello, first post. Built a NUC with passive cooling and have the unit connected to my SP3 and Oppo 205 via USB. I have an external drive connected to the ROCK which keeps it running constantly. I increased the time ROCK checks this file in the hopes that it will let the drive rest for a bit instead of continuously running. Any suggestions?

My SP3 is not updated to the latest boards so my connection from the ROCK is both directly through HDMI and as mentioned above through USB to the oppo and then balanced to the SP3. I’m not able to stream DSD in either way at this time. Does anyone know if the USB board upgrade to the SP3 allows DSD and multichannel, RAAT comparability is the issue, I’m guessing?

I’ve been using the oppo for SACD/DSD discs and enjoy that sound very much.

I purchased dbpower converter and ripped all my cd’s to FLAC with no real issues. My next task is to rip DVD audio and if possible SACD or DSD encoded CD’s. What method can be used, if any?

My system consists of:
SP3
KRELL FPB600C
WILSON AUDIO WATT PUPPY
B&W CENTER WITH SURROUNDS
ROTEL RMB-1095 FOR SURROUND
KIMBER CABLE INTERCONNECTS
EPSON PROJECTOR
ROKU AND PS4

Thanks for the help.

What is an SP3?
Disk running, how long has the rock been up an running?

Bryson SP3 pre-amp. I sometimes leave the ROCK running for days.

My rock runs 24/7 as does my nas

How long since you imported the library, how many tracks

Roon could well be still analyzing the tracks

Check the Settings>Library

Maybe set more cores to operate

It should quieten down. I did some big tag changes recently , it took 3 days to finish

To rip sacd’s you need a specific brplayer. In this topic on computeraudiophileforum you can read more. Computeraudiophile I used a cheap secondhand Sony bdp 40 ($ 35)

I have about 50-75 albums that I imported many months ago so I don’t think it’s that.

No that should be done quickly, mine was 5000

Hi Calvin,
If my memory serves me, the SP3 had a total of three potential HDMI boards, as well as a USB upgrade.
The new USB module added both asynchronous high def PCM and DSD.
HDMI was a little more complicated:
The first upgrade added 4k and DSD over HDMI, but no HDR. The final upgrade added HDR, but dropped DSD!
If you are not sure, Call Bryston and speak with Mike to help you determine exactly which boards you have.
