NFS Support for ROCK

Please add NFS support to ROCK.

Thanks!

we’d need to add more than NFS to ROCK – Roon would need a way to add storage over NFS…

Just a shot at the dark here, But wouldn’t be easier to have the webui handle the mount and add a folder via roon file browser?

yes, but it wouldn’t be a complete solution. For example, your backups would not contain proper mount information, just a path to a dummy dir.

Ah, Indeed. Thanks for your reply.

Yes NFS support would be really helpful.

It would be nice to be able to access the Rock’s share from a Synology NAS.

Synology NAS can’t mount SMB shares.

What are you trying to do? I have my Synology backup the Roon core as an SMB File Server via Active Backup for Business. Works great.
Only downside is that I understand some Synology NAS don’t run ABfB.

As we have 2020 now, why not ask for adding iSCSI support to the bunch? I think most NAS OS’s support it already and it might work better than SMB shares – especially for large libraries. DAS and NAS support is already here, so SAN support for Nucleus(+)/ROCK, giving a beneficial use case for an eventually present second LAN port, seems to be the next logical step to me.

Update: Added Wikipedia links to most of the acronyms. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello Scott,

Thank you for your reply. The ABFB trick could help.

What I’m trying to achieve is simply browsing the content of the Roon’s share.

This seems not possible as the Synology DSM can’t mount SMB shares.
