NO DSD Playback via HDMI to Denon AVR

Hi Everybody
I got note from a dealer, that Roon via HDMI not playing DSD files on a Denon AVR. The connected Oppo does?
Maybe one of you can help me to understand the issue

Most-likely a copy protection issue (HDMI input will only accept properly encrypted DSD signals from licensed SACD players). If you want to be sure about this you should contact Denon.

BlackJack is correct. The only way to do what you want is to play DSD via HDMI to the Oppo and connect the output of the Oppo to the Denon. You do have options with this in that you can:

  1. Use the analog outputs of the Oppo connected to the analog inputs of the Denon. This means that the Oppo DACs are in use.
  2. Use the HDMI output of the Oppo connected to the HDMI input of the Denon. This means that the Denon DACs are in use.

THanks for your answers, i wasn’t clear about the problem.
The source is Nucleus by Roon, files are bought by highresaudio.com
The Denon is supposed to be Roon ready, roon itself, identifies the DSD files and the AVR didn’t play them back, the oppo does.

No, many Denon AVR products are “Roon Tested” - they are notRoon Ready”. There is a difference.

A licensed CD/DVD/SACD/Blu-Ray player.
