When I stream The Beatles newly released 2022 mix of the Revolver album I don’t receive the format indicated on the album, i.e. FLAC 48 kHz MQA, 24 bit 96 kHz.
Via Roon I can choose three versions of the album out of which one “Super Deluxe” is supposed to have the HQ sound format.
I do receive the intended format when playing other HQ albums, like the Super Deluxe versions of Sgt Pepper, White album, etc.
Thank you for your reply. On my output device I see that with Roon I get 44.1 kHz. When I stream Tidal using a different device, not via Roon, I get 48 kHz. So I wonder whether there might be something wrong in the connection between Tidal and Roon?
Do you have the Top Tier of Tidal (Hifi Plus) or Tidal HiFi.
If you only have HiFi you are capped at 16/44 even though it shows you the Masters version
Top tier. As I wrote above I can stream HQ sound from other albums an from Revolver on a different device. The problem seems to be related to Roon and the Revolver 2022 mix album.
Sorry I missed that but.
I had some issues playing it yesterday and eventually it worked, then went back and it was only showing 3 track’s again. So I bought it on HDTracks as I liked the mix on first listen
Thank you Jim! Your experience definetly is different from mine. When I stream Revolver via Roon from Tidal I can choose from three versions of the album:
The 2022 demix/remix version, indicated to be in the format Flac 48 kHz 24 bit, MQA 96 kHz, but both Roon and my output device tell me that what I get is 44.1/16
Is it a problem with Tidal or with Roon? Well, if I stream Tidal directly to any of my sound output devices I can choose Flac 48 kHz 24 bit, MQA 96 kHz versions of the album and then get the indication on the device that I actualy get that format. So the problem appears only when I stream via Roon.
Of the three versions you have shown there, only the 2022 Mix is MQA. Not sure why it’s not playing as MQA. This one is MQA, although mislabeled. There is obviously some confusion somewhere getting the Tidal MQA versions up and labeled correctly.
I think that the best option here is probably to give it some time. I’m pretty sure that the label to streaming service delivery was messed up for this (major) release.
Thank you Joel. The problem is partly solved since a fourth version of the album, that wasn’t there before, bacame available to me. It is tha “Super Deluxe” version with 63 songs and Flac 48 kHz 24 bit, MQA 96 kHz and it also plays as that format. However, the 2022 mix album with 14 songs, indicated as Flac 48 kHz 24 bit, MQA 96 kHz still plays as 44.1/16, so there something still is wrong. However, I am happy that now I can play the album with HQ sound!
