Hi all-- loving my DMP-A6. I’d like to use it in Roon to play multichannel into my Onkyo RZ-50. But if I go to device setup there is no option under advanced to set number of channels. Using a NUC running ROCK, connected to network via ethernet.
I also noticed that Roon is downsampling high res files to 44.1. See this:
I set the HDMI output on the A6 to PCM multichannel and am connected via HDMI to my AVR.
Update: Reset the A6 to factory, and now it’s not downsampling. But the “Advanced” setup screen seems to change randomly and no longer shows that the A6 can handle a max sample rate of 384khz. That’s when the A6 downsamples, it seems.
In any event it never passes multichannel. It shows PCM 96khz/2 channel/32 bit for a rip from a new ABC bluray that is a 6 channel file in Roon at 96/24. Not sure why 32 bit is showing either. Argh!
Hoping for someone from Roon support to weigh in!!!
I tried reinstalling Roon OS and even reset database. The file played in multi using a USB in the eversolo. Can anyone from support give me a hand here? For some reason, Roon is not recognizing the Eversolo as a multichannel device.
Also tried moving roon server to my Mac; same result, so doesn’t seem to be the nuc.
Ok, this is so weird: I tried a DSD file I found online. IT WORKED, and the A6 showed up as a multi device. Thereafter, I was able to play multichannel as long as the AVR is on, using FLAC or DSD. NO CLUE WHY.
I want outputting to anything; the AVR was off. I guess Roon really cares if the downstream amp/processor is on
With the AVR off, Roon does not give the option to set channel layout at all. This surprised me because it is “downstream” from the A6. Yet, that’s how Roon wants it. I dunno; I’m just a simple country lawyer
