I haven’t used this player for a while. I might have missed some previous updates. However, I don’t get notifications that an update is available. I read some topics on the forum saying that auto update should be switched on. Unfortunately the option is greyed out in my version. Is it possible to force an update for me, since I can’t get to the SD card for a reflash.

That’s not correct. ‘Auto update’ does exactly what is says: it automatically updates the unit, but you need to have a reboot time scheduled. That’s the reason why it is greyed out in your setup.
Furthermore, your logs show that the unit is only running ‘just now’. Fetching an update can takes hours, so just let your unit stay on. For the rest everything seems ok, so I expect it will show up in a few hours.

Problem solved! I left the unit switched on and after like 2 hours I checked and the notification for the update was there.
