I am looking to change my second system in my man cave/office. I currently use an RME ADI 2 DAC FS feeding into my old Arcam AVR360 in direct mode so bypassed all the digital side. Speakers are being changed to but they are to be decided.
As I can use the RME as a preamp as I am purely digital in this rig I am thinking that buying an integrated is wasting money on components I dont need, where buying just a poweramp will put all the funds into just pure amplification. I am undecided but would like to get some feedback from users who may have the amp or DAC hooked up to a power amp. Budget is tops £1500.
Are Nords reliable, how is Nords customer service? How well does it perform. I wont be driving it anywhere near its full capacity as its a small space and will lekely be going with pretty efficient speakers but never say never.
And Nord are UK based Unfortunately I have no experience with them, but what can go wrong? They just put OEM modules (admittedly with some tweaks) in a nice box and add a warranty.
Looked at those and they look better built but as its not UK based company or distribution I am not keen as if something goes wrong its got to go overseas and likely incur charges. I have had issues with amps quite a bit in last year and it was hard enough with these being UK dealers. If your in UK did you get charged any import duty? How quick was delivery and how good is their communication?
I’m in the US. Didn’t pay an import duty. It was an easy purchase with shipping only taking three days (think it took 8 business days to build) to a Chicago suburb. Good luck with your purchase!
I am very happy with my Nord Three. I bought the cheapest configuration and have used it for about four years now. Only niggle is the blue light has a life of its own. And sending it to the UK from the EU would be problematic. But as Purifi/Hypex parts are sourced from EU-companies finding a repairer here should not be a problem. Response from Nord has always been good.
