Norton Alerts on Launch (Mac)

Hi Folks,

I get a warning from Norton Security every time I launch Roon on my Mac.

The warning indicates The computer “239.255.255.250” is attempting to access (sed, ac or Roon) on your computer. Do you want to allow this connection?

The app accessed changed from launch to launch between sed, wc and Roon.

Is this expected behavior? What’s happening, and should I click allow?

Hi,

239.255.255.250 is multicast address. I believe, that Roon uses it for endpoint or server discovery in local network.

Yes this is just related to how Roon discovers other Roon remotes and audio zones on your network. You should tell Norton not to worry
