Not Seeing Genres When I Use Focus In Tracks View

Hi

Not seeing Genres In Focus, as shown in the screen grabs below. I can see and select genres using Focus when viewing Albums, but not with tracks. I am using Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6 when encountering this problem, also have Roon Nucleus.

Also in Tracks there seem to be fewer tracks listed than on my Home page. On the Home Page there are 57028 tracks listed, but in Tracks it is only 55136.

I am not encountering any other problems, but Focus is a key feature, and I think that I should be able to focus on genres when exploring tracks. Does anyone have any advice?

Best regards

Alan

Works for me, macOS Sequoia and ROCK. However, I am on Early Access.

Hi

I am pleased for you. Not sure how that is supposed to help me though.

As for the number, note that Home shows the number of ALL tracks and albums, including versions, while My Albums (and probably My Tracks, I guess) only counts the primary versions

Well, it tells you that it doesn’t seem to be an inherent issue in the software affecting everyone - at least in Early Access. If it turns out that it’s only happening for you and nobody else has the issue, it’s probably somehow related to your system and this might be the direction to investigate. If several other users share your problem, then maybe this is something more fundamental that probably requires a bug fix by Roon. I’d think that more information is always better than less information when trying to understand a problem.

Hi

Thanks. Sorry if I came across as a bit blunt there, just frustrated. I used to be able to see genres within tracks, so I don’t know what has happened since then. I don’t use Focus overly much if I’m honest, because I’ve done most of the genre organising on the Qobuz playlists I have put together myself, but I quite liked using Focus to explore some of the sub genres that Roon lists, and it’s disappointing not being able to access the feature on my Mac at the moment. I can see genres in Tracks/Focus on my iPad, so the issue seems to be limited to my Mac. Apologies again for clipped tones in last message.

No worries  It’s interesting that it’s ok on your other remotes, which hints that it’s probably not a server issue either. Might there be some other focus criteria accidentally selected further down in the list? Probably not, because they should be visible in the screenshot under the „My Tracks“ heading, but maybe check just to be sure.

Hi

FYI, no other Focus criteria have been selected, and from what I can see, all of the other selection options that I would expect to have available in the Focus menu are available.

Very strange. I’d reboot everything but if this doesn’t help then I’m out of ideas and official support will show up soon.

Hey @Alan_Meldrum,

Thanks for writing in! We weren’t able to reproduce this among the team - I’m curious if you’ve already rebooted the Mac and potentially your router?

If your issue persists after the above, lets see if a fresh instance of Roon on the Mac may help:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Thanks!

Cannot help with the Tracks - Focus - Genres.

But related to the Track count:

On the Home page, all tracks are counted, including duplicate tracks.
On the Track page, when ‘show hidden tracks/albums’ is Off, double tracks are only counted as 1 tracks.

Hi

I rebooted the Mac and the router, and the issue seems to have disappeared. I was unsure about undertaking the second suggestion, as the databases are backed up to two SSD external drives that are connected to the Nucleus, which is in a different part of the house, but thankfully I will not have to explore that option.

Thanks to everyone for their input, it is very much appreciated. Every day’s a schoolday!

Best regards

Alan
