Here’s someone who’s got something to celebrate, and doing so in style and with good choices…
Umm yeah. Like all the way yeah. Never heard this before. Thanks Roon automixes.

The EP is on Qobuz & Tidal, but I assume you mean the full Nuclear War album, which I definitely don’t have.
The Internet has really taken all the joy out of hunting for records. The crate with the Sun Ra records was always in the back room and on the floor underneath the table with the crates of records that people might actually be interested in.
The sentiment and image make me very happy. I’m a “cusp generation” person - can remember being taken into those dusty back rooms to look for records by relatives and being kind of bored and confused but finding it kind of magical. At the same time, I know that my kids feel a bit of the same way when I put on a record at all. Those places mostly don’t exist any more, and I can almost certainly get 99%+ of those recordings on Qobuz/Tidal, but I still love when I find a real vinyl store with an extensive catalog. I am impressed by the Brooklyn hipsters who run small storefronts and do decent business selling only new vinyl, and it makes the business continue to hum. But yes, the Internet gutted another form of fascinating secondary markets, for better and for worse.
Check out post #171 above for some screen shots of all the Sun Ra recordings in my Roon library. Included amongst all those recordings is this 14 CD box set:

Hi - I’m relatively new to Roon, but discovered this thread last night and just wanted to express my gratitude to the contributors to this thread - you have truly sent me down the proverbial rabbit hole with some amazing recommendations.

Has anyone mentioned Booker Little? Fantastic left-field trumpet player, died early in a tragic accident. Only 4 records as a leader, here’s my favourite one. Try Opening Statement, you won’t know where the hell did that come from…
Damned if I can remember but thanks for mentioning Booker Little. Always worth listening to.
Two giants.
