Now Playing Some Jazz [2024]

I believe that the place you’re thinking about would be The Village Vanguard.

Released today and available on Qobuz and Tidal. The second great quintet with George Coleman on most of the tracks except for 10 tracks which feature Wayne Shorter. Hancock is simply on fire :fire: thoughout. And great sound quality as well.

Another great new release, recorded in 1992. Available on Qobuz and Tidal

must have been a great audience, but 65 bucks (in 2009!)?!

As you can tell from reading my last few posts, I’ve been checking some of the better new releases from the past couple of weeks and here is another worthwhile entry:

Here’s the personnel, which I found on Bandcamp since neither Qobuz nor Tidal bothers with metadata for most new jazz releases.

Holman Álvarez - piano
Adam O’Farrill - trumpet
Drew Gress - bass
Satoshi Takeishi - drums

my thinking is, that the village vanguard is the jazzpoint, at the fillmore´s (west & east) are more folk and blues-artists

While correct, it should also be noted that while both the Fillmore East & West are long defunct, the Village Vanguard is still going strong.
