NUC Server Connection Dropouts with Radio Stream/Qobuz (ref#DX48RC)[Ticket in]

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· My server, running via NUC, has had issues spontaneously losing connection. After selecting a radio stream or Qobuz album or track, Roon either cannot start playing or after it has started playing it will randomly cut out after a few minutes. The only way to get it to continue to play is to manually hit play on the Roon app. This happens on a very regular cadence-i.e., every day there are problems playing tracks because of dropout.

Tell us about your home network

· Motorola MB8611 modem, Asus RTAX58U router, Aumox SG305P switch, Actiontec ECB6200 Moca adapter, Asus RTAX58U (access point), RT-AC3100 (access point) connected via ECB6200. All three Asus routers configured in a mesh.

@support You may want to refer to the long arduous history of this case as it was detailed here:

Further info that may be playing a role in this issue:
All of the endpoints are Wiim Pros. Within the Wiim Pro audio settings are options for optical output resolution. Both sample rate and bit depth can be customized. I’ve always kept all of the Wiim’s at a maximum optical output setting of 192kHz sample rate and 24-bit bit depth.
However, by changing the sample rate to the basic 44.1 kHz setting it appears to reduce stability problems..

Sadly there’s still the issue of qobuz tracks struggling to play when cued in playlists.

Would logs be the next step?

Hi @Exile72,

Thanks for reaching out.

We’re aware of the issue with Qobuz and are actively working on it.

It sounds like the radio and Qobuz problems might be separate issues.

Could you please reproduce the issue with both Qobuz and the radio, and share the exact timestamps when these problems occurred?

This information will be invaluable in helping us resolve this for you.

Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out. Will send logs asap.

Timestamps of 6:02pm and 6:28pm

Hello @Exile72,

Thank you for providing those specific timestamps and the log snippet.

That log entry is quite telling. The line Debug: FTMSI-B-OE qo/8AC852E3 interrupted req 1571; missing block 0 confirms that Roon is requesting the audio data from Qobuz, but the connection is being interrupted at the very start of the file transfer.

As my colleague mentioned, we are currently tracking a known issue specifically involving the Qobuz CDN (Content Delivery Network). In short, the Qobuz servers are occasionally failing to deliver the “initial blocks” of data that Roon needs to start playback or continue playback.

Your logs match this pattern perfectly. Since your local playback and lower-resolution radio streams (44.1kHz) are more stable, it confirms that your internal network is likely fine.

  1. Ticket Status: I have officially linked your report to our internal master ticket for this Qobuz synchronization issue. I am moving this thread to “Ticket In” status.
  2. R&D: Our engineering team is working on a software-level optimization to make Roon more resilient to these specific “interrupted requests” from Qobuz.
  3. Resolution: This fix will be rolled out via a future Roon software update. Please keep an eye on our Roon Software Discussion > Software Release Notes for updates regarding Qobuz streaming stability.

Thank you for your continued patience as we resolve this!
