Subject: Nucleus Plus not booting after attempted Roon OS reinstallation

Dear Roon Support,

I am reaching out regarding my Nucleus Plus, which is currently not booting correctly after an attempted reinstallation of Roon OS.

Here is a summary of the situation:
• The Nucleus Plus is connected to the network and responds to ping at IP address 192.168.0.23 (verified via Fing).
• However, accessing http://192.168.0.23 in a browser results in a connection error — the web interface does not load.
• I followed the official procedure:
• Downloaded the latest Roon OS .img.gz file.
• Decompressed it and wrote it to a USB stick using Raspberry Pi Imager (Etcher failed on macOS M4).
• Inserted the USB and powered on the Nucleus Plus, waiting more than 6 minutes.
• The device appears active on the network but shows no sign of successful reinstallation.
• No monitor or keyboard is currently connected, so I cannot confirm what is shown on boot.

I will have an Apple-certified engineer visiting on Tuesday to connect a monitor and keyboard to verify:
• If the USB booted correctly
• Whether the internal SSD is detected
• Any BIOS or boot error messages

Please advise if there’s anything else I should try before then, or if there are diagnostic steps we should follow during the physical inspection.

the nucleus is connected directly to the modem with cat 8 cable . the modem is optic fiber

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

Unfortunately, without knowing what is displayed on the screen during boot, we’re unable to make any definitive conclusions or recommendations at this stage.

That said, the fact that the device responds to ping suggests that the motherboard and Ethernet port are functioning correctly — since the IP address is typically assigned at the BIOS/firmware level before the operating system loads.

We recommend connecting the Nucleus to a monitor or TV via HDMI to check for any messages during boot. This will help us understand whether the operating system is loading properly or if there is a deeper issue.

Let us know when you’re able to try this steps while the Apple engineer will came.

Installing Roon OS requires the use of a keyboard and monitor, so it would appear that you have not in fact installed it as yet. See Step 5 here:

We haven’t seen a response here, but our diagnostics servers don’t show the Nucleus as having signed on since your last post.

Please let us know if you’ve had a chance to review the instructions shared above. We’ll watch closely for a response.
