Nucleus Ethernet Connection Issues with Blinking Yellow Light (ref#NSB083)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· We live in a house connected to my spouses office, and while we have wifi is, the ethernet connection is not largely used and not controlled by us. It was however tested and works, but not sure it is the same as the wifi, We bought a Nucleus and plugged it into an ethernet plug but instead of blinking green it is blinking yellow, with a solid orange light to the left of it. We also have a Bluesound Node, which seems to be connected to the wifi, with a green light. I can see on my Roon app that it recognizes both the the Nucleus and the Node, but not sure if either is functioning or connected to each other. And the yellow light seems odd. Anyway, was looking for guidance. If it is a problem, I that doubt we will be able to modify the ethernet plugs. In this case, is there any way we can connect without them or use another secondary tool that connects to the wifi and that we can then plug into that? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Tell us about your home network

· I don't control or monitor the router, so I can't provide further information. I do know it works, but not whether it is the same as the wifi, I do use VPN periodically.

Hi @adudte,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! Are you able to access the router settings at all? I see you mention you don’t control the router - we’ll ultimately need to check the devices list within your router settings to see if your Nucleus and other devices are on the same local subnet. It sounds like the Nucleus does see an Ethernet connection, but it is not getting a usable IP address from the network.

Any easy follow up test here could be to try a differen ethernet port, as well as reboot your router.

Do you use different routers for ethernet and for wifi? If so, try connecting the Nucleus to the same router that provides wifi to your Roon devices.

We’ll be monitoring for your reply, thank you! :raising_hands:

The blinking light means that data are transmitted, and the solid yellow is an indicator of speed. For the Nucleus, this means 1 Gbps, i.e. the maximum for the device. So, nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Hi @adudte,

Is there anything else we can help with before this thread auto-closes? Are you able to connect with and play to the Bluesound device using Roon?
