8:45 MST 45 second lockup loading Vaughan Williams. 3rd item added to playlist.
This morning I loaded 10 CDs with no lockups. It followed an update to the Mac Roon app. Coincidence? It will be interesting to see how we do in the coming days. Perhaps issue was found and fixed? That would be wonderful.

What changes were made in the code, and did the logs indicate what the issue was?
Loaded 10 CD’s this AM at 7:25 MST with no hangs. Something had to change in the code.
No joy this morning… 8:32 MST system hung for about 45 seconds loading “The Protecting Veil” CD. Damn.

We did see a network failure in relation to the Nucleus’s DNS server, but it didn’t align with the timestamp you’ve shared above:
connect 1.1.1.1 failed errno 101 (Network is unreachable)
It may be worth testing out another DNS server to see if there’s any change in performance. We, unfortunately, didn’t see any obvious errors or hangups around the timestamp you’ve shared above.
8:34 MST Loading album ‘Passio’ it paused for around 30 seconds. It was 5th album loading to a playlist. Still, I had 2 mornings where it worked perfectly. Hard to explain the variable. I looked at latest release notes and saw nothing relevant to my continuing issue.

Thank you for your patience.
Let’s perform some due diligence. Adding albums from your local library to playlists first thing in the morning seems to have a 1/3 chance of slowing Roon down significantly. You’ve mentioned this occurs on both your Mac Studio and your Macbook Pro.

Is it worse on one of those two machines?

Has Roon (the remote app) been open on both Macs overnight, or do you open the app and connect to the Nucleus in the morning before this occurs?

Next time you test this in the morning, restart the RoonServer of the Nucleus from the web admin page before you add anything to the playlist. Do you still encounter the delay?
We’ll investigate diagnostics from this on the backend. This should isolate the issue once and for all provide either a workaround, a conclusion, or a fix. Thank you!

Thanks for the additional information! We were able to discuss your case with our development team today, and reviewed another fresh diagnostic report from your Nucleus, which oddly didn’t show the sluggishness around the times you’ve shared. With that, they’re curious to know some additional information:
- When you notice the sluggish behavior on one of your Macs - grab your mobile device and test to see if you experience the same sluggishness at the same time on this device. You could perform this test on your other Mac remote as well. We’re interested to see if it occurs simultaneously, no matter the remote device.
- You mention this behavior doesn’t happen all the time, and you have some mornings where performance is properly snappy. Do you happen to know if there are other programs running on your Mac when you notice poor performance?
- Lastly, and this might be a bit tedious for you - the next time you experience poor performance, would you be able to capture a video and share it here? Even if it’s capturing the behavior from an iPhone recording while you’re experiencing it on your Mac, it would be helpful.
