Nucleus is rebooting maybe every 10 mins

Experiencing the same today with my Nucleus. At first I thought it was just playing Tidal tracks as I had no issue earlier on the week with locally stored tracks, but the server is rebooting maybe every 10 mins even with local storage. Very frustrating - perhaps a bug in a new s/w release?

Hi @GAVAN_DROHAN,

This behavior is known to be related to the BIOS within the Nucleus. If you connect a monitor via HDMI, what do you see?

You can get started on an RMA request for repair by using this typeform:

Nucleus Troubleshooting

I’ve submitted a support request, Server is restarting every 25 mins. When i connect a HDMI the screen shows device info such as Model and Serial Number and gives the URL to connect to the OS UI

Just an update on this having read some other user issues - I have turned off ‘Background Audio Analysis’ and the server has not restarted for the past hour. Previously it was restarting every 25 minutes even when i was not using it.

Hi @GAVAN_DROHAN,

Thanks for the update! With the above information, it doesn’t sound like hardware-related issues.

If possible, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs from your Nucleus to our File Uploader?

Thanks!

Thanks. I have uploaded the log files. You can see that the server did not reboot after 12:27 yesterday after I turned off Audio Analysis. I switched it back on later yesterday evening as I imported some more music and although slow it did not reset. There is a reboot at 3am but that may be related to a backup.

Hi @GAVAN_DROHAN,

Thanks for the logs!

I do still see frequent restarts taking place on the 31st. To confirm, you’ve successfully added and analyzed your full local library in the past, correct?

If you review your skipped files under Roon Settings>Library, how many corrupt files does Roon spit out?

Let’s perform a database refresh and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon Database
  • Stop RoonServer from running in Nucleus’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your Nucleus’ Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Database
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
