Nucleus One and MacBook Pro servers causing access issues on other devices (ref#F8EG18)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. I have a nucleus one AND my MacBook Pro as SERVERS. I cannot get anything BUT my MacBook Pro to access and use ROON...none of my other devices now access. I've tried removing and then reloading ROON on ALL off these devices and the only one that works now is the MacBook Pro computer. Previously THEY ALL WORKED. Why two servers? Why can't the other devices access and work Roon? PLEASE do not transfer to me the technical expertise to fix this. Someone please call...not texts or email instructions please as they presume my technical ability to figure your technical blueprint out myself. Thank you.

Tell us about your home network

· holy crap...did my previous message get through...I have not way of knowing...what the heck!!

Hi @larryplumb,

Roon only needs one brain in your home, and right now your Nucleus One and your MacBook Pro are both trying to fill that role. That is why the other devices have been confused.

Since the Nucleus One is meant to be the main brain, we just need to stop the MacBook from competing with it. Please open Roon on your MacBook, go to Settings > General, and click Disconnect at the top.

After that, your MacBook will ask you to choose a library. Please select your Nucleus One, and the other devices should start seeing it again and working normally.

Let us know if that brings your music back.

Hi @larryplumb,

I assume your Nucleus is your primary server, with your library and customized settings, etc?

If so, then on the MacBook, please take the following steps:

  • Close out of ROon.
  • Exit out of RoonServer from the MacOS Menu Bar or use Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor to close out.
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Delete the “RoonServer” folder entirely

Now, open Roon. You should see relevant prompts to connect to your Nucleus One, as long as the machine is online and connected to the same network as your computer.

We’ll watch for your reply. Thanks!

Hi @larryplumb,

Wanted to follow up on this. Have you been able to set either the MacBook Pro or the Nucleus One as your Roon Server, and is everything working correctly now? Please confirm, otherwise your thread will auto-close.
