Hello. I just purchased a Nucleus One. Hooked everything up and followed the set up instructions to the best of my ability and can not get any audio to show up or get the nucleus to show on my phone on the app. When I use my Mac with Roon on it shows up but does not let me play anything and nothing shows up under audio. I have switched out Ethernet cables and rebooted phone and router and modem and nothing seems to work. Also I deleted the Roon app and Roon arc app and signed in and nothing seems to work. Hope you can help because I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Unable to show Mac screen shot as I had to use Ethernet cable running from Mac for Nucleus. Unable to get anything to start from app. Rebooted everything, deleted and reinstalled apps and everything showed it was working from the Mac except unable to get any audio to come up. I could probably fix something wrong if the app would at least work but nothing works and just keeps trying to load. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Can you temporarily connect your Mac to WiFi while the N1 is connected via Ethernet cable? I am trying to asses if there is a network issue or if the N1 is working properly.
Hello,
Now neither the Mac mini or nucleus are working. Not sure what is going on. Used the supplied Ethernet cable that came with the n1 and now the Mac is not working either so I believe the sub par Ethernet cable is creating another issue. I guess the days of plug and play are not here. Easy is not an option. Very stressful to get anything with Roon to work properly. I have been trouble shooting for 2 days now and another issue and other issues keep coming up and the n1 is there machine so I thought it would work easy for sure. Wrong! I don’t have all the time in the world to keep dealing with all the constant issues so I hope it is just a crappy cable and a bad Ethernet switch on the n1 which I thought they would have tried it out before they sent it out. Guess not on that as well. Nothing connecting as server at all now so not sure what to do. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello, It appears my Mac mini that was a server for a brief time is keeping me from letting my Nucleus 1 from being the server and even though I unauthorized it it is still trying to run the show. If anyone knows how to add the Nucleus one and get rid of the Mac mini issues it would be much appreciated. Spent the last two days trying to get my nucleus working so I could relax with some much needed hi res music. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello, Negative on fixing any issues and still unable to connect. Everything shows up on the Mac showing the nucleus ssd hard drive is formatted and everything was able to upgrade firmware and other UI categories. Not sure why no matter what I do it will not even start from my phone. I don’t want to use my Mac mini because it keeps trying to set up as a Roon server every time I log in even though everything is deleted now. Very frustrating! Hope we can fix these issues soon so I don’t get stuck with a non working nucleus and a ssd drive. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello, Is there a setting on the iPhone XR that could be causing the N1 not being able to connect because there should not be anything left on the Mac mini unless something lingers on the applications or firewall settings like pointed out previously. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello, Is there actually anyone that knows how to resolve any of the issues I see. Looks like a lot of guesses and no matter of fact fixed. Funny how my Mac mini worked better than a dedicated nucleus server with a great ssd drive does not work or even get recognized or show any audio options. Not sure if this is worth all the head ache for someone just saying try this or this and nobody really fixes a ton of issues that I see. I hope the issues can be resolved without purchasing another unit like another user on here. I do not just have thousands of dollars sitting around nor the time to troubleshoot for 3 days at a time like I have done since Christmas. Was excited for all the promises of dsd, hi res and so called ease of use which I have not seen at all. Please prove me wrong and do what is right and provide the service that Roon says it has. Do not want to be stuck with a Nucleus if they are not going to work as stated. Would much rather find another more reliable streamer that actually works and has higher quality components. Yeah the Nucleus gets sold as a great deal but it is a lot of cheap parts and not a very good quality built product. The Sata cable is very flimsy and even looks super cheap and the Ethernet cable does not work very well from my changing it out with a way better quality cable. Hope this message goes to the right person that does know how to fix some of the issues and has some knowledge otherwise I guess it will be like all the other failing companies that promise everything and deliver nothing for a high price. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello, It appears there is no support for iOS. I try to get to the UI and the ip address just sits there and doesn’t load. Probably a setting or app on the Mac mini causing everything not to work properly. I deleted all the Roon off of Mac mini thinking I could use my phone iOS and now looks like iOS might not have support to load or control anything without something like a iPad or Mac to download programs or set up nucleus with Mac OS. Hoping someone has experienced what set up I have and can reach out with some informed info instead of a guess. Anything else anyone might suggest would be much appreciated. Hopefully I can help someone else if we all figure out what works and what throws everything into chaos not working with anything mode. Thank you. Chris Peterson
In Roon, you need to disconnect from the currently connected Roon Server, which appears to be the Roon Server on your Mac.
Normally, this would be done by going to Roon’s > General screen and clicking the “X Disconnect” link showing in the Roon Server section of the screen. Then you would see a screen showing the active Roon Servers running in your home network and choose the one you want to connect to (in your case, the Nucleus).
It may well be that since you’ve deleted Roon off your Mac that your Roon on iOS is still trying to connect to the now-deleted Roon Server of your Mac. Do you not see the option to “Select a different server” on your iPhone? Perhaps you can post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
You say:
Do you mean by this that you are using the web browser on your iPhone to open the Web Administration Interface of your Nucleus? If so, and you can’t access the Nucleus, then perhaps your iPhone is currently in a different subnet from your Nucleus.
Hello, I did notice a screen saying something about the ip being different so maybe the Mac mini ip was showing up because Mac mini was still taking over the server and I did not see where I could select a different server than the Mac mini. I might have to go under Mac mini applications and see if any remnants are still controlling the show to not allow the nucleus and iOS to communicate and resolve the connection issues. Thank you for your help and I will let you know if the issues are resolved with applications or settings not correct in controlling the servers. Chris Peterson
Hello, I see Nucleus One as server and Mac Mini as remote I believe but no matter what I do I get no audio coming up but my dac and the Mac mini speakers and my tv. No Sonos or home pods or no music sources. Anyone know how to get Sonos to come up. Also still no nucleus one coming up to control on iPhone. Not sure if everything is supposed to work that way or something is off in settings or something else. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello, Is there anybody out there? iPhone still searching for nucleus one. Not being recognized and no audio sources. Anyone know why no Sonos speakers showing up? Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello, I saw that Roon was going to be short staffed or not at all. Was trying to add humor because I still have no music since Christmas and nobody knows how to get my Nucleus to work. I am beyond frustrated and have given up because I still have to go to work and my mind is working every option trying to figure out what computer is doing what and why nothing is communicating the proper way to broadcast great music instead of silence. So sorry if I come across as frustrated for having a non working piece of electronics that I can not enjoy. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello Geoff, So I see the Nucleus and the Mac Mini on the Mac Mini so you are saying disconnect both the nucleus and the Mac mini before I can connect with my iPhone iOS. I cannot get my phone to show anything but the ip address and when I click on it it does nothing. Should I leave Roon on the Mac mini so it can be an end point or remote or wait until my iPhone is working through apps? Thank you for your help. Chris Peterson
