Shame the cost is £599 compared to $499 in the USA

Because of exchange rates and taxes, apples and oranges.

Exchange rates favour the £sterling so the UK price should be lower, at least that’s case until Donald takes over then anything could happen…

Even accounting for VAT @20% in the UK $499 vs £599 - come on ROON how is this value for the UK subscriber. At todays exchange rate $499 is £400 approx. Disappointing.

Well,I will be getting one of these in the near future. But,as I recall,on release in the US there was a generous trade in for owners of an existing Nucleus. I can’t see that for U.K. buyers and if that’s true would love to know why.

I doubt you’ll see a trade in, Roon are a US company, they also bill in $USD globally meaning the sub is crazy expensive for some markets.
Doing anything outside the US seems to require a lot of effort and I suspect the wait in worldwide distribution may be the sourcing of a distributor and contract.
Hopefully they’ll become more global.

Yes,you are,of course right. Roon obviously identified the need to entice existing owners of a Nucleus into the new equipment. But that hasn’t extended into U.K. or EU. It’s a shame as the welcome price point of the One makes second hand Nucleus unsellable. It’s holding me back at the moment but at some stage I will invest in the Titan and future proof the system.

Not for me, expensive and then some. We can all do our maths on the true cost and I for one will not be exploited by an American company overcharging because they think they can get away with it. I shall be rebuilding my NUC with higher spec ram and memory, its already in a fanless case and has returned faultless performance for 5 years.

Intriguingly this company are offering an alternative

however they too seem to be in the business of maximising profit as I have the identical N100 fanless mini pc running MOCK which I got from AliExpress for £85 delivered…

AliExpress has levelled the playing field in buying from the far east, I’ve used it many times without issue.
No need to buy in bulk as I had to 25 years ago to get a bargain from a Chinese manufacturer.

That’s no good for Roon, it too cheap :joy:

taxes included in UK, not US until the shipping address is known

and for those that CBA this is a good solution
