I have just +2 weeks got Roon for my setup. I use a regular router that is connected to Denafrips Arce and to laptop computer. Then I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab 9+ with Roon in it. If I buy a Nucleus One and use it instead of my computer, will the sound be better? And can I send the signal directly from the Nucleus One to my Denafrips Pontus II 15TH and get a good sound right away? Because now when I use what has been written here, I have a better sound from my LG C2 tv with toslink directly to Pontus. I don’t understand how it is like this! Has power cleaner for the router and iFI Lan ethernet cleaner in Arce. Hello everyone!
(Unless you have a DAC directly attached to the computer, the computer emits unusually high levels of electrical interference, and the DAC is very bad at filtering it)
Probably the best solution is to follow Roon’s recommendations:
This is strange… I wonder why Roon keep this under warp for any obvious reasons? Any hardware required specs to be spelt out clearly. The last two generations of roon nucleus are given either i3 or i5 variants so users knows what they are getting; in term to suit their needs. I own a last gen i3 nucleus and I don’t use DSP function.
The reason is essentially that it’s meant to be an appliance. It is specced to work with libraries up to 100K tracks, up to six simultaneous zones, and all DSP options for PCM (but some limits for DSD) - this seems more important for most people than “i3” which means very little.
I don’t think this info came from Roon, though. Plus it’s an i7 in the N+, but this also means very little without adding the generation info.
Actually, a regular user who doesn’t read the forum a lot would have no idea what this i3 or i7 would give them in terms of performance for Roon.
The discussion happened many times already, the forum search will help
Hello suedkietz, I completely agree with you - the type designation of the processor says nothing…!
What would interest me, however, would be whether the Nucleus One can actually also be expected to improve the sound or just an improvement in performance and usability?
