Description of Issue

I have the problem, that on January 3rd, 2025 my Roon Nucleus + (Revision B) did Not Connect. I went the whole day through all the procedures on your Website. I also connected to my Television via HdMI 2. when starting up the TV Showed no Signal, but a few instances before it showed also „Roon“ or - what surprised me - it showed Netflix. But I restarted about 20 times my router and all my complete setup in the house. As mentioned, Roon just fails to connect. There is something wrong with the nucleus + ( Rev. B). I have to send it in was the solution from Roon helpline. But - as I am from Germany (Munich area here in Germany) I would like to take it ideally to a dealer who could help me. However, I bought the Nucleus + about 4 Years ago ( it is out of warranty for sure) and I do not even know exactly where I bought it. It could be from Roon directly (where is European distribution ?). Anyway, it would be nice if I could get an email from you with a contact person or ideally a shop in Europe. Anyways - does the Nucleus + (Rev. B) have a SSD hard drive ? I guess yes it has and I think I got a 2 GB or a 4GB hard drive and I presume the hard drive needs to be exchanged. But then all my music is lost and I need help as to how to save all my approximately 5000 songs.

Hello @Michael_M ,

Thanks for your message.

If you are seeing the Roon logo, this is indicative of a failing SSD. You can try to replace the SSD yourself by following the prompts in the below form. When you are asked the questions regarding the HDMI output, select the Roon logo from the available answers and the form will guide you through the process. Let us know if you run into any issues!

Hello, it wasn’t the hard drive. I sent it to my dealer to check, and he told me, that the Nucleus Plus rev. B has had a static IP. He changed it back to dynamic IP and gave it back to me yesterday. Since then I am struggling to get onto my Nucleus Plus Rev B web interface. I just cannot connect to it from my MacBook Pro. I am devastated. I also do not understand, why it is so hard to find instructions for “dummies” like me. I’ll keep searching and tinkering. I have lost about three years of playlists anyway, because when the dealer gave me my Nucleus Plus back there were no playlists on my nucleus. At least there are my 5000 music files, but I just do not understand how the whole thing suddenly can fail to connect in my network. any help is appreciated how to get onto the Nucleus Plus web interface.

Hey @Michael_M,

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear your issues persist.

As a next step, can you access your router GUI and check your devices list to see if your Nucleus is on the list and receiving an IP?

It may be worth connecting the Nucleus to a monitor via HDMI again and see what pops up on the screen. Make sure the Nucleus is powered on and connected directly to you your router.

Thanks Benjamin for your reply. I am really desperate so any help is very much appreciated. After all, I just have tor try things out. So here is the answer to your two questions/ suggestions:

A) the router does NOT list my Nucleus Plus. However, the router (Fritz Box) shows the “Nucleus Plus” in a list of “not used connections” items with the IP 192.168.xxx.xx (i.e that is the static IP of my Nucleusplus which I had put in previously,I.e. when I first had set up the Nucleus Plus about 3 years ago ( before I had configured my Apple Mac Mini running Roon as a server, which by the way still exists as a running system. However, when I started with Roon five years ago or so, I configured my Apple Mac Mini ( Intel ) to serve as a Roon Server ( I think it was at the time the easiest way to setup my MacMini as a “Rock” server . This system still is existing and I have also a few backups lasting until late 2022. Maybe I never managed to setup NucleusPlus properly in the first time ( when out of the box…although I remember at that time that all was easy to access the nucleusPlus web administration interface). But today the problem is also: with new software, more and more “phishing”/ security issues it gets more and more difficult for me, to differentiate what Is “private” and what is “publicly” accessible in my home…it is the same with accessing my router… Plus things get potentially dangerous for, you know…also my router access seems“ not secure anymore…”
B) as my router is in the basement and my tv is upstairs in the living room it is physically impossible to connect the nucleus plus both at the same time to my router and simultaneously to my tv. Plus: whenever I connect my nucleus plus via HDMi cable into my TV it shows a black screen and does not send anything anymore. TV ( LG ) always moans, that it does not receive a signal. I really would need to be able to access my nucleus Plus remotely… that is also something which I tried to do with Roon Arc, but never got it to work. Even though I have NordVPN and I invested in a dedicated IP. But it is all not working. But back to my problem to connect both the Nucleus to my router AND my TV. So as said, does physically not work. I am therefore going now downstairs with my disconnected NucleusPlus and I will try to connect it directly with a LAN Cable to my router and simultaneously connecting my MacBookPro ( which I can also carry downstairs to the router) to the router.

BUT what do I do then ? Should I then be able to access the web administration interface ? But I want to access the web administration interface from my living room. At the moment there are two switches in between the router ( Fritz Box) and my nucleus plus (I.e my router downstairs is connected to a switch, which delivers into each room of my house a signal. And then there is a switch upstairs in the living room, where the signal arrives from my switch downstairs and where it needs to be distributed to my different items in the living room ( TV, stereo system, network player you name it. ) but both switches seem to work, I have checked).

So let me know what you think, what I Do need to do and how to proceed. I will keep UIyou posted !

Hi Benjamin, I solved the problem ! Your last sentence was a breakthrough! just connect the nucleus plus directly to my router has helped and let me solve EVERYTHING !

Albeit that it is physically impossible to connect the nucleus to a TV. My TV is in the living room on ground floor and the Nucleus is in the cellar.

By the way, connecting it to my TV always shows a blank screen - I.e black screen.

Anyway thanks for the helpt - after getting on to the nucleus web administration page it was to me relatively easy.

I still have more issues though, because I still would like to use Roon Arc. do you have a dummies guide as to how to set it up over here in Germany with a Fritzbox provided by Vodafone… ( have to check in my thread a few years ago, maybe nowadays things have changed here…)

Regards, M
