Describe the issue
I see my Nucleus+ on my phone or tablet saying it is ready to connect. When I press Connect, the Roon logo appears and pulses, but it never connects to my endpoint from CH Precision. The network has been rebooted and nothing else has changed. This just started recently. I'm at a loss.
Describe your network setup
Roon Nucleus+ into Netgear switch into CH Precision i1.
Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the community! We’re excited to have you here, but also apologize in that it’s an issue thats prompted your recent post. Let’s dig right into your issue:
Can you set up your audio chain in the following order, and see if there’s any change in behavior: ➝ Router ➝ Nucleus+ ➝ CH Precision ➝ Control devices (iPad/Phone)
If you still run into issues, lets see if refreshing your RAATServer database may help.
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
Unfortunately I am unable to remove the network switches from the signal path. The router is not moveable and isn’t close to the Nucleus+. It connects to the correct location via Ethernet, where there is a switch that sends Ethernet through the house. Another switch is at the audio system, where it connects to the Nucleus+ and the CH Precision I1 streamer/amp. I’m not having any network problems anywhere else in the house, nor on the system itself (I can stream without Roon using the I1’s internal streamer). So I think the switches and router are OK.
I followed the directions to create a new RAATServer. It did not solve the problem.
Hi @Alan_Taffel,
I can see from our records that your Roon Server was successfully communicating with your I1 about 14 days ago. Can you check your router settings to confirm whether the I1 is currently showing up as a connected device and receiving an IP address? Also, please verify that the IP address assigned to the I1 is on the same subnet as your Roon Server. That’ll help us narrow down the issue.
I was able to resolve this problem in the following way:
I borrowed a friend’s Nucleus One and swapped it in. It worked perfectly. This told me that the problem was not with the CH, the router, cables or anything other than my Nucleus+.
Another friend with a Nucleus+ told me his build number and from this I learned that I did not have the latest build.
I tried to reboot the Nucleus+ to force an upgrade and the upgrade failed.
Using the web UI interface, I rebuilt the Nucleus+'s OS and server software. This forced an update, but I still couldn’t connect to my CH amp/DAC.
I then used the same interface to rebuild the Roon database. This solved the problem. All is well now.
Hi @Alan_Taffel,
Thanks for letting us know what solved this for you! I’ll mark this thread as solved for you. It’ll remain open a couple more days in case there’s any further problems.
