If you think Goose are awesome then try Geese!
My son informs me that they are a very different band!
Your son is correct, but both are quite good. In fact Geese will be on SNL in the coming weeks!
I agree, Nugs definitely is for a niche audience. Fortunately for me, the narrow range of music is all part of my world so I am a very happy guy!
Your question is where is the value in Nugs? Well, the value is in the beholder mate. For me, I signed up and lost interest pretty fast as itās all US centric and I hardly know any of the bands in the list. So for me if it was free I wouldnāt and havenāt been using it. If you live in the US then you may enjoy it though but then again it seems expensive. The choice is yours dude.
Oh. Iām an Aussie if that helps.
It is a weird question. If you like the music on it - you may find it valuable. If you donāt - donāt use it. Pretty simple.
I am sure Roon will get some new clients from this integration which is always a good thing.
For classical and opera fans, I can also recommend the Met Opera streaming service. For $140 a year, you get unlimited access to their entire video and audio library, with new operas added every season. Amazing quality and value, especially compared to the price of a ticket. I use the Apple TV app but most platforms are supported.
Iāve recently started the trial of the Nugs integration in Roon, and I wanted to share some feedback.
As others have already mentioned, Iām struggling to find albums that really match my usual listening habits. The catalog feels heavily oriented toward music styles from a different culture than mine, which makes it harder to connect with the content. That said, I may not be the target audience.
That being said, I think the live concert feature is a fantastic idea. It brings something genuinely unique and engaging to the experience, even when itās not music I typically listen to. Thereās a real āliveā energy thatās very appealing.
However, I do find the pricing quite hard to justify. Compared to Qobuz, which costs me less and delivers significantly more value for my personal use, ā¬25/month feels excessive. As a full subscription, itās difficult to see the fit. As a discounted add-on, perhaps at half the price, it could make much more sense.
Overall, great concept and very interesting direction, but the value proposition and catalog alignment could be improved for users like me
I think nugs was not really intended for us, as we already are roon subscriber, but every nugs subscriber wo looks for a service like roon or Audirvana might chose Roon because of that integration. We all profit it if helps Roon to survive but I also hope they concentrate now on other improvementsā¦
A post was split to a new topic: Support required
Iām about to cancel the nugs subscription. It was interesting but they need more content agreements with other strands of music.
