Ignore what Benjamin says then as that’s for using a DAC not as a DAP.
I am afraid this is likely an incompatibility issue on the Hiby are not mapping properly to the apps volume, this is something I would raise with Hiby support as not heard of this from other Hiby users using other models. I would take up with Hiby support . I had problems with certain apps when I used my R5 years ago their controls can be a bit odd and not guaranteed to work with all apps. Roon app is designed with phones in mind and will require the same functions they would use to be controlling volume for the app on a phone. But even so it should reduce the volume as it’s controlling its amp regardless. Is it not changing volume at all or just not showing the changes in the Roon app?
Using my FiiO M11 all works as it should with their volume control. So this is unique to this device if ARC also has issues.
The 4.4 mm output at the right is a line out. So no volume control at all.
The 4.4 mm output at the left is the headphone out. I works fine with my B&O H6 but it does not work with planar headphone like my Susvara and not with my Audeze 4z: only hardly to hear hissing… I will contact Hiby to ask why.
When I put my planars in the 3.5 mm output (at the left), all works fine now (except for not enough power for the Susvara).

Two questions left for Hiby: why planars don’t work on the 4.4mm output. And why the volume stays to low on the Susvara…
Susvara is really hard to drive. Just a matter of power. The 4z isn’t hard to drive; it is especially developed to be easy driven. So it has something to do with 4.4 mm and planar in this Hiby device. In other devices that’s not a problem at all. I asked Hiby support now. Thank you!
