This is a new problem since some recent upgrades of High Sierra or Roon. I access my remote machine from my core machine (both MacPro) through VNC remote desktop application (more specifically an aftermarket version “Jump”). In this mode, when I go to view “All Albums” and scroll on the “Albums” page with two fingers on the track pad, it doesn’t move by one page, but rather jumps many pages. Then when I tried to go back to move scroll my fingers to the left, it keeps going further to the right, each time jumping many pages.
I don’t have a mouse to try out how it works. I only use track pads on my Mac OS (High Sierra latest now). I never had this problem before. Weird.
PS. I know that I don’t have to VNC to control the remote machine. My remote machine is directly connected to a TV, which is how I control it in the listening chair. Sometimes I want to demo for someone who is sitting in the listening chair, and I want the guest to see what is playing on the TV while I control it from the core machine.
Have you tried using the built-in MacOS screen sharing? It works very well for me when I want/need to control my Mac mini that runs RoonServer from my iMac.
Also, do you mean “Mac Pro” or “MacBook Pro”? Maybe it’s just me, but it’s kind of difficult to tell.
@orgel, have you upgraded to High Sierra? I believe my problem started since the High Sierra upgrade.
I just tried the “VNC viewer” by Real VNC and it is so sluggish and the track pad horizontal scrolling of the Roon window doesn’t even work. This was why I bought Jump in the first place.
My remote machine MacPro (yes, the black cylinder desktop) is connected to a 75" LG 4k TV, but I don’t think it is the TV as I was using it fine with this new TV a month ago. I think the problem started with the High Sierra upgrade.
And I blame Roon because I can do Tidal app this way and scroll the Tidal screen with no problem.
Just one more finding: The horizontal scrolling works properly by using the right arrow key button, but they scroll incorrectly by using the track pad with two fingers.
