· Hi, I have a question on migrating to a different system (e.g. from QNAP to a NUC). I've read the migration help but I still have a doubt.
I have about 2.000 albums half of them are .flac files the other half are Qobuz library with various edits and modifications.
When I migrate I will need to connect the Storage where I have the .flac files and restore a backup to get my library back.
In which order the two activities should be done? First connect the Storage directory and THEN restore the backup or viceversa?
When I connect the Storage I'll have to wait Roon to detect all files and create albums? In this case many of them will not be detected correctly because I had to edit them ... until I restore my backup I suppose.
The recommended order is to restore your Roon backup on the new Server first, and only then edit your watched folders locations.
Your Roon backup contains your edits, playlists, favorites, play history, Qobuz library information, and storage settings. After the backup is restored, Roon will already know about your existing library and edits. Then, once the storage location is available again, Roon should match the files back to the restored database rather than treating them as a brand-new library.
If your music is on a NAS and the path remains the same, Roon may reconnect to it automatically after the restore. If the path changes, please edit the restored storage location rather than adding the same music folder as a new location.
