PC for DSD1024 48 that will handle all filters? Fanless preferred

the idea is only to make sure that motherboard video adapter is enabled - connect the screen to it - and yes, check if installer will pass (so not disabling 5090)

also in my early notes, it may be applicable to 5090 as well, i don’t remember if this worked actually , but maximum damage is that you damage the installer that you can re-write again, it’s been a long time since ubuntu is recognizing 4090 well.

The idea: “Using nomodeset prevents early graphics mode-setting before the correct NVIDIA driver is installed.”

if the installer goes black after GRUB then at the Ubuntu installer boot menu:

- Highlight "Try or Install Ubuntu Server" (or whatever is the option).
- Press e.
- Find the line beginning with linux.
- Add before the final ---: “nomodeset nouveau.modeset=0”

For example:
linux /casper/vmlinuz … nomodeset nouveau.modeset=0 ---

Boot with Ctrl+X or F10.

last resort may be to remove 5090 , install ubuntu, and put 5090 back, but i’m sure there must be elegant ways to overcome this black sreen.

I don’t have more ideas, if none of the scenarios worked - you may want to reach out to audiophilestyle community there are threads on linux and hqplayer, I’m 100% sure you are not the only one with 5090 going to embedded. so issue must be known, unless this is a card deffect, which I doubt , since you enjoyed your card for a while while already…

You should be able to have the Intel integrated GPU for display output and have the Nvidia GPU just for HQPlayer offload, without display output. If it is acting up for some unknown reason, you can have “dual display” case where your primary display is on integrated GPU and then you can just have an EDID Spoofer dongle plugged to the Nvidia GPU’s HDMI port. That will fool the GPU that there would be a “display” connected, even though there’s not (I use this with remote controlled Windows machines that otherwise act up).

If you get an EDID Spoofer, take the lowest resolution one, preferably a 1080p one. This way the GPU doesn’t waste a lot of RAM for useless framebuffer.
