I've been experiencing some troubles with my music streaming setup through Roon following the most recent software update. This setup, which I've maintained for years without issue, centers around my powerful AMD-based workstation running Roon Core. I use HQPlayer to upsample incoming PCM to DSD, a process I've relied on flawlessly over time. The upsampled music is then sent to my DAC, a Luxman D-10X SACD Player, via USB from my custom-built Intel N100 based HQPlayer NAA. This DAC feeds directly into my integrated amp, the Hegel H590, through XLR connections. It's a system that's served me well, offering seamless, high-quality audio enjoyment with zero dropouts—until this latest update from Roon.
Since the update, I've been facing persistent dropouts during playback. These aren't isolated incidents; they occur at random, whether at the beginning of a song or midway through, and it doesn't matter if it's the first track I play in a session or any track thereafter. The unpredictability and frequency of these interruptions have been quite frustrating. I want to emphasize that this issue has only arisen after the latest Roon update. My network setup has remained consistent—high-speed internet with all devices connected via Ethernet, which has historically ensured a stable and reliable streaming experience. Before this, Roon operated flawlessly within my system, making these new dropouts especially perplexing and disappointing.
Hi @vahifiguy,
Thank you for letting us know about this issue. We have enabled diagnostics on your account and it looks like you are running into a known performance issue that we are investigating. We will let you know once we have more details for you. Thanks in advance for your patience!
The fixes we’ve prepared for performance improvements will be included in the upcoming Roon release. Please keep an eye out in the Software Release Notes section and within Roon for the “Update Available” notice.
Based on what we’ve identified in diagnostics, these changes should noticeably improve the issues you’ve been seeing by reducing erroneous background processing within RoonServer. Once you’ve had a chance to try out the fix, we’ll troubleshoot any remaining extant network connectivity issues that we can learn from new diagnostics.
This week has been quite busy, so I haven’t listened much. However, an earlier update may have fixed the issue. Thanks for checking in! I’ll hopefully clear up some tasks at my workstation soon, upgrade to the latest version, and keep you posted on how it’s running.
