Play Count not updating; History shows songs played

mikrotik running RouterOS v6.49.2 using capMAN with numerous AP, but RoonServer, NAS, is all on Ethernet

Description of Issue

Playing, does not increment play count, yet History properly shows songs played.

What could be causing this? I have some play counts so it’s recently stopped registering. My lastFM scrobble also updates correctly. Thanks.

I don’t use streaming services, so I could be wrong, but I see those are on Tidal, and I believe Roon only updates things like this once you have added a streaming song to your Library.

In the meantime, as I’m looking it appears it updates play count only on songs added to your library, can someone confirm?

My use case is add potential artists, albums to a “to listen playlist” and if I like them, will add them to library. However, in this playlist, I’d like to listen only to songs that have “0” for the play count (vs manually tracking and deleting the listened to songs continually).

Yes “plays” refers to plays of content in your Library - not direct from a streaming service.
