Hello @Volkmar_Haupl

Thank you for the details so far. Could you please reproduce the issue once more and share the following information with us? It will help us check the logs more precisely:

  • The exact timestamp (date and time including minutes) when the issue occurred
  • The track title and artist that failed to play
  • A short note confirming if the issue happens every time you try to play from TIDAL, or only occasionally

Once you’ve reproduced the problem, please let us know and we’ll review the related logs right away.

Roon runs on a modern NUK Intel mini PC. Roon runs flawlessly when controlled via the TAB stereo system. TIDAL alone also always works flawlessly (via the stereo system and PC). Only when I try to listen to Roon on my Windows 10 Home PC does the message “Too much interference, playback stopped” appear, and I can’t hear any track, no one. The problem only ever occurs only on the Windows PC. Until recently, everything worked perfectly there. Nothing has been changed on the computer. The problem has been occurring for about two weeks. All updates have been activated.

Es muss also an Roon liegen.

Gruß,
Volkmar

Hey @Volkmar_Haupl,

Thanks for the additional information! Could you please bring your ROCK back online? We’ve enabled diagnostics that should send over a report once it connects to our servers.

In the meantime, see if any of the below help you:

1 Confirm the audio output path in Roon

  • Open Roon → Settings → Audio.
  • Check which output device is enabled and selected (e.g., “WASAPI: Speakers (Realtek)” or “System Output”).
  • Try disabling exclusive mode for that output:
    1. Click the gear icon next to the device → Device Setup.
    2. Turn Exclusive Mode → Off.
  • Then test playback again.

2 Reset the Windows audio driver stack

  1. In Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  2. Right-click your output device → Uninstall device (check Delete the driver software if possible).
  3. Restart your PC → Windows reinstalls a clean driver.
  4. Test Roon again.

3 Since Roon relies heavily on real-time streaming:

  • Connect the PC to Ethernet (not Wi-Fi) temporarily.
  • If Ethernet fixes it, it’s likely Wi-Fi congestion or powerline adapter interference.
  • If still broken:
    • Open Roon → Settings → About and confirm your Core and Remote are on the same subnet (e.g., both http://192.168.1.xxx ).

4 Windows Defender or third-party firewalls often block RAAT (Roon’s audio protocol):

  1. Open Windows Defender Firewall → Allow an app through firewall.
  2. Ensure both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe are allowed on Private networks.
  3. If using antivirus like Avast, Bitdefender, etc., temporarily disable its network shield and test.

Let me know if any of the above help, thank you! :raising_hands:

Hello Benjamin, ROCK is inline.
I’m not a PC expert and haven’t changed anything on my PC, yet Roon suddenly stopped working. Your advice and recommendations are of no use.
I don’t use Wi-Fi either, but a fixed cable connection to my Fritzbox (latest model).
I haven’t installed any additional antivirus software. All drivers have been updated.
I already had to wait months for a solution when Roon wouldn’t sync with TIDAL.

I’ll probably cancel Roon; the program is too prone to glitches, and the support is also very poor.

Regards,
Volkmar

Hello @Volkmar_Haupl,

We truly understand your frustration, but in order to identify what exactly is happening on your system, we rely on precise diagnostic data — specifically the timestamp (date and time) of the issue. Without it, we can’t trace the corresponding event in the logs or determine whether it’s related to network communication, system performance, or TIDAL’s backend.

It’s important to note that such symptoms can also be caused by a variety of external factors — for example, brief authentication timeouts with TIDAL, temporary packet loss between your Core and endpoint, or local DNS caching issues.

We fully respect that you may not be deeply technical, but following the exact troubleshooting steps and providing the requested details (like timestamps) is the only way we can isolate and resolve the issue efficiently.

Could you please reproduce the issue again, note the exact time and track, and share it with us here if you’d like to continue the diagnostics? Once we have that information, we’ll review your logs right away.

Ich habe aus Roon starten wollen.
Mix 2025, Titel Nr.3, Lonely Boy um 10.01 Uhr am 08. Oktober 2005

Hi Volkmar, I’m just a normal user like you - and am also having problems.
Which version of RoonPlayer / RoonServer do you have installed?
Yesterday I received the update to ‘earlyaccess v2.56 build 1566’ and things seem to be better, but it’s early days yet…

Hello @Volkmar_Haupl,

Thank you for the update.

Based on the diagnostic data from your account, the current playback issue doesn’t appear to be related to the TIDAL connection within the Roon app.

From the logs, it seems that Roon is unable to take control of your Denon soundbar at the driver level:

This suggests that either something else on your system is holding the device in exclusive mode, or the driver is reporting incorrect capability information to Roon.

As a test, please try the following steps:

  1. Try lower sample rates:
In Roon, play tracks with lower sample rates (for example, 44.1kHz or 48kHz) and let us know if playback works.
  2. Check the Exclusive Mode setting in Windows:
  • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Playback tab.
  • Select your Denon Soundbar, then click Properties.
  • Open the Advanced tab.
  • Under Exclusive Mode, check whether the options
    • “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” and
    • “Give exclusive mode applications priority”
      are enabled.
  • Try toggling these options off and on, then restart Roon and test playback again.

Please let us know the results of these checks so we can continue troubleshooting.

Es funktioniert wieder… Ich habe Parameter meiner Soundblaster X G 6 wieder auf Standard gesetzt, alles neu gestartet und nun funktioniert Roon wieder. Ich denke das war es, warum auch immer.
