Describe the issue

2.67 breaks playback on Chord Mojo with MacOS

Describe your network setup

Ethernet

Wow, the form to create an issue is a whole thing, huh.

Anyway, Chord Mojo2 connected to MacBook Pro over USB, streaming from server on Mac Mini connected over ethernet.

All playback results in the “Too Many Failures” error.

Connected in Exclusive Mode.

Playback to Mojo from other system audio works fine. Playback to built-in speakers from Roon also works fine.

Rolling back to 2.65 on the client restores functionality, even with Roon server remaining on 2.67, so definitely an issue introduced in 2.67, using the built in updater.

Hello @Stuart_Gibson,

Thanks for reaching out to Roon Support and for providing such thorough details about your setup and troubleshooting - the rollback test is incredibly helpful.

To get your Chord Mojo 2 up and running on the latest build, please try one of the following adjustments in your settings:

  • Disable Sample Rate Conversion: If you are currently upsampling in Roon, try disabling it completely for the Mojo 2 zone. The Mojo's internal WTA filter handles upsampling beautifully on its own, and this completely sidesteps the issue.
  • Limit the Bit Depth/Sample Rate: If you prefer using Roon's DSP, go to Device Setup -> Advanced (or DSP -> Sample Rate Conversion) and force the Max Sample Format to 24-bit instead of 32-bit, and cap the Max PCM rate to 352.8 kHz / 384 kHz.
Let us know if adjusting these audio settings clears up the error for you on the current build!

Hello @Stuart_Gibson

We just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Were you able to try the steps suggested by Alex, or are you still experiencing issues with your Roon Server?

Please let us know if you still need help—we’re happy to assist further!

Can confirm that disabling sample rate conversion restores playback, but I wouldn’t say disabling a previously working feature counts as a solution, per se.
