Does the issue happen with local library music, streaming service music, or both?
· *Only local library *music is affected.
Where is your local content stored?
·
Please try playing content of a lower sample rate (44.1kHz or 48kHz), does this work as expected?
· No, lower sample rates are still affected
What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?
· PC & Mac Studio M1; WLAN & LAN (1-10Gb)

Dear Roon I have ROON installed on a qnap (previously on a SYNOLOGY NAS). It worked fine from the NAS, but has constantly drop outs, or stops completely, when playing back audio on my qnap.
Is there a problem when ROON is installed on a qnap? How do I solve it?
So which one is it? Did it ever work fine? Did you always have the drop outs? Are the drop outs a new development? If so how long is it since it started? Do you remember anything changing in your setup at that time (relocating devices, changing provider, updating gear or software, …)? What does your network look like (details)? What are your failing zones and how are they connected (to Roon / the network)? What is the model of the NAS, firmware version, how is Roon Server installed, if the package then what’s the release date, can you please post an image of the Roon Server app window from the NAS?
Thank you for your post. We’ll ultimately require more details to pinpoint what’s wrong, but we have a few preliminary suggestions.
Based on your description, the QNAP is operating under different network conditions than the NAS as your RoonServer.
If this unit is hardwired via ethernet to a managed switch, access point, or powerline adapter, then instead try hardwiring it to the main upstream router in your network setup.
With WiFi in the chain between RoonServer and the internet, dropouts with streaming music (when DSP is disabled) slow buffering from streaming service servers can cause dropouts - there’s either packet loss in the WiFi connection, or inadequate bandwidth allocation to RoonServer.
You mentioned that local files at lower samples are also affected. Where are you storing your local library? Is it in a networked storage location that the QNAP is accessing via a network share? If so, then there’s likely network instability between the storage location and the QNAP preventing reliable access to the files.
Lastly, try verifying that RoonServer is excepted in QuFirewall. Please more fully elaborate on your network setup, including all network hardware involved in this setup. The more detail you provide about your Roon environment, the more equipped our team will be to assist expediently.
