Does the issue happen with local library music, streaming service music, or both?
· *Only local library *music is affected.
Where is your local content stored?
· Somewhere else on the local network (NAS)
If you move the content from your NAS to a local storage location, do you still experience issues with playback?
· The issue happens for both the NAS storage location and on the secondary storage location
Please try playing content of a lower sample rate (44.1kHz or 48kHz), does this work as expected?
· No, lower sample rates are still affected
Do you have an approximate timestamp of when the issue last occurred?
· 10/4/2025 1515 - 1520 GMT+8 Upstairs in My House by Men at Work
What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?
· Prismsound Lyra2 unit 01148 Firmware 1.24.6577 Software 2.1.5.4
Describe the issue
Using a Prismsound lyra2. As of the recent update to Roon, playback appears to fail at random and Roon skips tracks until it times out. The interface is connected via USB and their driver is installed and running. No prismsound drivers or firmware was updated prior to or after the Roon update. Previously the lyra2 would automatically switch sample rates if it differed from the previous track/current configuration. I suspect something in the new update broke interoperatibility with the Prismsound driver since using a singxer DDC to bypass the Prismsound driver works fine.
Describe your network setup
NAS and Roon server are connected via ethernet, PC via wifi and router is an Asus XT8
I have gone ahead and enabled diagnostics mode for your account.
From the diagnostics, we can see that Roon attempts to begin playback to the Lyra 2 DAC at 24bit/96kHz, but the device immediately returns an error stating:
04/10 07:15:38 Trace: [Broker:Transport] [Lyra 2 alt] [Lossless, 24/96 FLAC => 24/96] [4% buf] [PLAYING @ 0:00] Down Under - Men at Work
04/10 07:15:38 Trace: [prebuffer thread] [prebuffer] ready 326400/960000 (34%) @ 0/226 sec
04/10 07:15:38 Trace: [.NET ThreadPool Worker] [Prism Sound USB Audio Class 2.0] [raatclient] GOT [7] {"message":{"signal_path":[{"method":"asio","quality":"lossless","type":"output"}]},"status":"OutputMessage"}
04/10 07:15:38 Trace: [.NET ThreadPool Worker] [Prism Sound USB Audio Class 2.0] [raatclient] GOT [7] {"message":"RAAT__OUTPUT_PLUGIN_STATUS_FORMAT_NOT_SUPPORTED","status":"UnexpectedError"}
04/10 07:15:38 Warn: [Worker (1)] [Lyra 2 alt] [zoneplayer/raat] failed to setup any endpoints..giving up
04/10 07:15:38 Info: [Worker (4)] [audio/env] [zoneplayer -> stream] All streams were disposed
This is unexpected, as this is a standard format and one the device itself reports as supported. It suggests that something in the communication between Roon and the Lyra 2 is entering an unstable state during playback initialization.
Next Steps:
Please try fully restarting both the Lyra 2 and the Roon Server before playback.
If you are using a USB hub or any intermediary hardware, try connecting the Lyra 2 directly to the Roon Core machine.
You mentioned playback works when using a Singxer DDC to bypass the Lyra 2 driver — this confirms the issue likely lies in the direct USB connection or driver interoperability.
I set that Lyra2 support the ethernet connection is it possible to check the same using wired network ?
Try different USB cable.
To help us investigate further, could you confirm:
Are there any firmware updates available for the Lyra 2?
Does the issue occur immediately on startup or only after extended usage?
Looking forward to your feedback so we can assist further.

I was using a USB hub, connected directly to my PC but issue persists
I set that Lyra2 support the ethernet connection is it possible to check the same using wired network ?
I assume you’re referring to the ethernet port located on the Lyra2, that was intended for Dante but ultimately was not utilised and serves no function. I’m unable to connect my PC via ethernet currrently.
Try different USB cable.
I tested playback by connecting the cable to an ipad via an adapter and issue was resolved. Safe to assume its not the cable.
Are there any firmware updates available for the Lyra 2?
The latest firmware update provided by Prismsound is from 2023, which is what is currently running on my unit. Additionally the latest available software is from July 2024 which is also what I’m currently using.
Does the issue occur immediately on startup or only after extended usage?
Issue occurs upon startup (of roon core)
A small correction of the error behaviour, the Lyra2 is able to switch sample rates fine but is unable to start playback even if it doesn’t require a sample rate switch.

We need to clarify your setup a little. Please share a screenshot of the Signal Path in Roon for the configuration you’re using with this audio interface.
There’s likely nothing wrong with network throughput - this looks like a network access/permissions issue with RAATServer, possibly because the update triggered a change in the behavior of either Windows or the Linux location where you’ve installed Roon. Are you running Roon in a virtual machine?
The last update didn’t ship any changes to device announcement, audio transport, or RAAT, so we’ll need to investigate logging more closely. What is the approximate date you first noticed this symptom?
I’d first verify that Roon’s processes are exempted in the Defender firewall since Windows and ASIO are controlling the device. This likely won’t resolve the issue but it’s worth checking.
Here’s a screenshot of the signal path:
And the Prismsound software:
Yes I’ve got Roon server running on a Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS VM
I honestly couldn’t tell you when I first noticed it although I know for sure it started with the most recent update, I remember it was my first time opening roon in a while and I had a prompt to update. Once updated the playback issues started happening and I’ve only now decided to contact you guys since things have been busy haha.
Both RAAT server and the Roon client are allowed through the firewall:
In the meantime I’ll setup another instance of Roon server on Rocky linux to check if the OS is the issue.
Thanks for giving that a try and for the additional information! Getting in touch with Prismsound does seem like the best next step - let us know how that goes.
