Describe the issue

I am playing tracks directed from a Roon dedicated server (MacOS) also loaded with Tidal, to a BluOS receiver (via home internet), then by wired connection to a Bose amp and speaker. The BluOS receiver is working properly, as is the amp/speaker unit. I am using an iPhone to control the Roon server. When I select a piece to be played (both when it comes from my library and/or is streamed online via Tidal) the piece plays correctly for a short period of time (maybe 20 seconds), then stops, and the player moves to the next track and plays that, again for only about 20 seconds. I have restarted all the devices and this has not solved the problem. I have also checked the internet speed, which is 40-50 megabytes/second. Please help!

Hello @rob.w.dalziel

We have found it, and it is simpler than it looked. You can stop testing network settings and internet speed.

Your TIDAL subscription is on the Intro plan. That plan only provides thirty second previews when TIDAL is used through a third party application such as Roon. So Roon receives a short preview instead of the full track, the audio ends, and Roon moves on to the next track. That is exactly the twenty seconds and skip you are seeing, repeating on every track.

Nothing is wrong with your Mac, your BluOS receiver, your network or your Roon setup.

To play full tracks in Roon, the TIDAL account needs to be on one of their paid tiers rather than Intro. Once you upgrade, it will work immediately with no changes needed on the Roon side.

One thing worth clarifying so we do not leave anything unresolved. When you mentioned tracks from your library, did you mean albums you had added to your Roon library from TIDAL, or actual music files stored on your own drive? If genuinely local files also stop after twenty seconds, please tell us, because that would be a separate matter and we would keep looking.

That worked. All is well, thank you so much Vadim
