Description of Issue

Playback stops randomly and the playback controls area is replaced with a blue lozenge with the message ‘Select an Audio Zone’.

I have noticed that when this happens, Roon is using a lot of CPU power and increasing amounts of memory. Closing Roon Core and re-opening the software seems to reset the memory usage to a more reasonable level and things work OK for a while, before the same issue starts again after a while.

Hi @Ian_Grant1,

Thank you for your patience in awaiting a response.

I’d like to take a look at your issue but in the course of enabling diagnostics, I see the core is offline.

I can wait for you to get the core online, notify me that it’s done, and then go look at diagnostics but let me give you something you can try on your own first.

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

Please let me know how things go.

Thanks,
Wes

Hi Wes,

thank you for your message. I am fairly sure my core has not been offline recently but it is online now so could you check to see if you can access it to enable diagnostics please.

In the meantime I have recreated the RAATServer folder as you suggested.

Regards,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Did recreating the RAATserver folder make a difference?

Hi @Ian_Grant1,

I was able to get diagnostics and it looks like the vast majority of your issues are related to network connectivity. Lots and lots of socket exceptions on things both minor and major.

Here’s an example of what wouldn’t load:

Account verification messages and attempts to create the content on the home screen of Roon are also failing.

I would look at firewalls, VPN setups, or even something as simple as restarting your network from modem to Roon as a possible culprit/fix.

Thanks,
Wes
