Describe the issue

When I start playback of a local file to my Sonos Speakers playback stops after a few secods. I get the error message "Roon lost control of the output device"

Describe your network setup

Sonos speakers and Mac are all on same wireless lan. WIFI AP is from Ubiquity.

Roon core runs on a MAC. Playback to the system output of the Mac is without issues.

@Krist_van_Besien Do you use Airplay or Sonos Protocol for streaming?
I currently use Sonos protocol for my devices and they are all hard-wired, as is my Roon Nucleus. No issues, but I had the “Roon lost control of the output device” message a year ago or so.

I use the Sonos protocol I suppose, as my devices do not support Airplay.
(They are 2 Play3 speakers, and a subwoofer).

I recommend searching for ‘sonos roon lost control of the audio device’ here in the forum; and then check the previous solutions to see if there is anything there.
Hopefully you can find threads that will help you.

I have searched the forums, but I see now that there are a few more recent threads with suggestions.

The main issue is that the problem appears and disappears. Currently I have no problem with playback…
