I’ve had the Uniti Nova for about 1 month with latest firmware. When I play my Hi Res FLAC 24 bit music files using Roon, anything above CD quality, it will play just the first 5 seconds, splutter and then stop! When I play back the same Hi Res music files on my Bluesound Node 2i it is perfectly fine. Of course playing back in non native mode using Airplay mode is fine. I am using a QNAP NAS running Roon server into all my devices. I have a mesh Wifi ORBI RBR850 router with 1 satellite. I posted on Naim forums and the recommendation is use a wired connection which this works fine. However, I still want to know why the Node 2i works on same network and the Nova does not. I would like the flexibility of not using a wired connection.
Please post screenshots of Roon’s Signal Path when playing to the Nova and to the Node.
Plus, your wifi router’s admin page should show the wifi band (2.4 vs. 5 GHz) and the bandwidth for the Nova and the Node. They might be on different bands and/or achieve different bandwidth. You didn’t say if they are in the same spot, so it may cause a difference if they are not, or the respective wifi implementations in the two devices may achieve different results in your particular setup, even if if they are close to each other - wifi is somewhat unpredictable.
I’ve got an Atom and nodes and all of them work wirelessly on high res tracks. I would look to your network. Roon, for better or worse, is really fussy about WiFi and will glitch if it is less than ideal.
I’ve flooded my house with mesh nodes to overkill the issue.
OK so no difference there, meaning that the difference is in the wifi connection
OK, I’ve now used a wired connection. It’s not my ideal solution but it works.
